DDT was great until they discovered that it was saving millions of third world lives.
So they invented a lie in order to ban it world wide.
Only in America was it being used in excess.

"Theyve caused millions of malaria deaths."
That was on purpose.
They didn't want the third world population growth, lest they demand the benefit of their own natural resources.

Theyve caused millions of malaria deaths.
I used to tell my students (Jr High) that Rachel Carson was responsible for more human deaths than Stalin and Hitler combined. I know she didn’t mean to, but banning DDT brought back malaria to the third world. It needs to be brought back but I doubt it will.

A mosquito wad heard to exclaim,
"I fear they have addled my brain!"
"The cause of my sorrow
is
para-dichloro
diphenyl-trichloroethane!"

Nah, if there is any justice in this world, Rachel Carson won’t be rolling over in her grave because her body has been completely consumed by bugs.

Huh? You can eat DDT by the spoonful and be fine. Oh sure, but you won't be able to lay an eagle egg either.

Ive spent almost 60 nights in various hotels this year. Never even given a thought to bedbugs.

DDT was responsible for the eagle egg problem in the same way that insecticides turned out to be responsible for the bee die off.

I’m sorry to say that when I read the headline (before reading the article), the first thing that popped into my head was ‘Zyklon B’.

Were you otherwise occupied?
Died you have to worry about other...multi-legged, bed-related critters?
Nothing personal, just musing about hotels.

So DFDT was ignored, Dr Aspbergers early research on Autism was largely ignored for years but Thalidomide was fast tracked, especially in places like the UK with horrible consequences. Whats wrong with this picture?

...Actually that wouldnt be very difficult to do there should be inexpensive small portable black light type flashlight available... Amazon. Many price points available. I got one for about $25 to look for leaks in my car AC.

Nothing personal, sorry. There was a thread earlier today where someone mentioned the phrase saber-toothed crotch crickets and I couldn't stop chuckling over it.
So when somebody on this thread mentioned black lights and hotel rooms...
My apologies.

We still have one, for checking for a couple of our now-late cats’ occasional UTI’s.

And there I was, thinking they were talking about Zyklon B.

Zyklon B was originally developed to kill lice.

My first thought as well.
After 80 years, our domestic enemies would prefer we forget.
