This is the constitutional crisis we feared

For nearly three years, President Trump’s critics have warned that there may come a point when we face a genuine constitutional crisis, one that threatens our very Democratic system. That constitutional crisis has arrived.

The White House has released an extraordinary letter from White House Counsel Pat Cipollone to congressional Democrats, a document that will live on in infamy from this day forward as evidence of how profoundly Donald Trump corrupted the office of the president and everyone around him.

Despite the fact that it appears under the signature of the chief lawyer of the White House, the letter reads like some combination of a deeply misinformed seventh-grader’s social studies paper and a rant from Sean Hannity, randomly tossing around terms like “civil liberties” and “separation of powers” without any apparent understanding of what they mean.

Boiled down to its essence, the letter asserts that Trump is beyond the reach of oversight, of impeachment, and of any checks and balances from the legislative branch. Because he thinks Congress is not treating him “fairly” (the word “fair” appears eight times in the letter), Trump has decided that he can issue a blanket refusal to “participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry.” All requests for documents and testimony will be rejected, and all subpoenas will be thrown in the trash.

To put this in context, there are regular disputes between Congress and the executive branch over particular subpoenas or other ways Congress exercises its oversight power.

“The executive rarely if ever is willing to give up everything Congress wants on the terms that Congress wants,” Professor Melissa Murray of New York University Law School told me. But the usual procedure is that after some negotiation, “they reach some compromise that’s mutually acceptable. MORE AT THE LINK

Hillary Clinton and Biden expose how much the Dems care about Corruption and Obstruction.

Someone in the GOP needs to get off their ass and ram home basic points.

Then vote and put your vote where your mouth is. Put another way “tinkle or get off the pot.”

BTW, the Dems have cried wolf too many times and have absolutely no credibility. Now, they demand witnesses and discovery when they haven't even made the proceedings official. The Dems are dancing.

My concern is that this scorched earth by the Dems will come back to hurt future US presidents. Political “spies” in the CIA are not good and the FBI and CIA have lost some serious cred. They have proven that they will do anything to bring down a president whom they disagree with politically. Scary stuff since the FBI and CIA are not elected and have unlimited unchecked power.

The crisis is what THEY created because Clinton LOST. To a T,every single charge is what they are guilty of. It’s maddening! Any time the President defends himself or fights back it is called “obstruction” and predictable further calls for impeachment. All of this is absolutely disgusting and totally from the Soviet Union playbook.

The Ukrainians might have taped the call. Congress might ask the Ukrainians, but don’t waste the executive branch’s time.

Don’t expect our people to have reliable recollection after two weeks of unremitting media mental pollution.

Telling the Democrats to take their fake impeachment inquiry and shove it straight up where the sun don’t shine is one of this country’s brightest days. It was the day a sitting US president told a smoldering den of corruption and treason, also known as the United States Congress, to go pound sand!

It does no such thing. It says you have to vote for an impeachment inquiry BEFORE you can have an impeachment inquiry.

The Left lie non-stop.

A Constitutional crisis is when Democrats don’t get their way.

The Constitutional crisis is the attempted coup by the Leftist activists of the Democrat Part who are attempting to illegitimately remove a legitimately elected President because they disagree with his politics. Simple as that.

evidence of how profoundly Donald Trump corrupted the office of the president and everyone around him.

This should be the new exemplar for the dictionary listing for the word "asinine".

1 - No-one has to cooperate with people trying to prosecute you for crimes you didn't commit (or even if you did!). 2 - Trump and his administration cooperated fully with the sham Mueller probe - and it got him nowhere. 3 - The entire effort to unseat Trump that began publicly within hours of the close of the 2016 election, that actually started long before that day in the back rooms of the DNC, Soros, and Russian collaborators. and has been nothing short of a blatant coup attempt against the duly-elected POTUS.

The Post has already many times set its position as against the Constitution and rule of law. As a proponent for open borders, sanctuary cities, obstruction of ICE’s obligations under the law, no one from that rag should be lecturing anybody on the Constitution.

The writer is not an attorney from what I can google and he is telling Trump’s attorneys who have carefully referenced case law that they are ignorant of the law.

No thanks.

For nearly three years, President Trump’s critics have warned that there may come a point when we face a genuine constitutional crisis, one that threatens our very Democratic system. That constitutional crisis has arrived.

For nearly three years, the Washington Post has been relentlessly attacking President Trump with proven false allegations. Now the Post is pretending that they are full of righteous indignation in continuing an insane kamikaze attack.

Just like the Washington Post has given up even pretending that they were objective, the Democrats in Congress are trying to pretend that they know the Constitution, that is, they have their own version.

The allegations in the letter are clear and simple. The Washington Post should just respond to the letter.

There has been no formal vote in the House to open an impeachment inquiry against the president.

Maybe the Washington Post should, in plain English, report the fact that there has been no formal impeachment inquiry, just a lot of noise from the Democrats, that is nothing more than a show trial with a secret accuser.

Who do they think that they are fooling? The Democrats have been ignoring the Constitution for years.

“The president is the top law enforcement office in the country. Trump is investigating Biden’s crimes. End of story!”

Hopefully, it’s just the beginning.

They are digging in the Ukraine.

Why did you hire Hunter?

When powerful people or their associates stick their hands out insistently, rich Ukrainians know it is wise to fill them.

They may be asking questions in China too.

Why did you give an alleged cocaine user over $1 billion to invest?

His daddy the Vice President was in town recently and made a stink over certain issues of great concern to the Chinese nation like the massive trade imbalance. The $1 billion was simply relatively low cost insurance. I’m not the only one that thought it wise to make the investment in China’s mercantile future. As you know, we sort of then turned the extraction screws ourselves for the good of China’s future.

The Speaker of the House, The Botoxed B*tch, HAS NO POWER TO IMPEACH. Only the House as an institution has the power to hold a formal vote on articles of impeachment. Until the cowardly sore loser Rats hold a formal public vote to impeach, POTUS is within his Executive Constitutional powers to tell Nanzi and Schittforbrains to go F themselves.

The Compost “reporter” is clearly a dumb@ss and is Constitutionally illiterate.

The MSM, along with the leftists controlling the Dem party and a few Rino's, continues to recruit new voters by whatever means.

They have little or nothing to lose and much to gain. They have been successful in the past and make no mistake, they appear to be doing very well in the longer term. We will see in 2020 if they enjoy a quick success with their current effort.

Simple enough, the end result will turn largely on whether we can produce informed, discriminating voters.
