TV shows will have to meet a series of diversity requirements to be eligible for Bafta awards under new rules. The BFI Diversity Standards, which cover race, gender and sexual orientation among other categories, are already part of the criteria for Bafta's film awards and are now being extended to cover small-screen productions. Now that I think about it, this likely explains why so much of the UK produced programming I used to like has jumped the shark.
Sigh.
Ah....Jenna Coleman. Truly...and this is only my opinion...the most beautiful woman to ever grace the Earth with her footprint.
I thought they already did for quite a while. I guess this is just a matter of making it official.
I’ve never been interested in BAFTA. But I see your gay black female for Jane Eyre with a trans-sexual African or Asian as either Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria, or Prime Minister Churchill.
Actually, over the years, I would argue Doctor Who has had a larger cultural impact in America than Seinfeld, Cheers and Friends put together.
Which, still isn’t much.
The odd thing is that they’ve made Doctor Who into a woman, without making him lesbian or making reference to transsexualism (so far). Think about that: although Doctor Who has always been played fairly asexually, he married and had a child with a woman and has been in love with women for millions of years. If they portray a female romantic interest, Doctor Who would be a lesbian. If they portray a male romantic interest, Doctor Who would be bisexual (in having had male and female interests). Neither.
BAFTA to losers: It is not that you were not the most popular or the best at what you do. It is because of your color / religion / party affiliation etc.

No decent movies or tv shows to be made from this point forward.
The Crown being the perfect example.
