But, but she was scared to death that a burglar was going to kill her.

What type of murder was she convicted of? I can’t find it in any of the media stories. 1st degree, 2nd degree, some other form of homicide?

Sorry. White cops will be held to a higher standard.

I don’t understand why the charge was 1st degree murder. It wasn’t premeditated.

If I was a juror I would ave voted guilty on some kind of negligent homicide charge but not 1st Degree murder. She surely deserves to spend time in prison...perhaps even ten years but no more than ten.

I am firmly convinced that she didn't set out to harm anyone...she made a huge mistake.Nothing more, nothing less.

If there had been a history of "bad blood" between them...or if she had a history of aggressive behavior I very probably would have voted guilty of murder. But unless I'm mistaken neither of those two things were true.

I feel very sorry indeed for the dead guy and his family. I think they have good reason to sue her for millions...and possibly the city as well.

My sympathy is with the guy who was minding his own business in his own apartment when a police officer entered and shot him.

I’d like to hear details from someone that has followed the case closely.

If it was a mistaken entry into what she thought was her’s. Manslaughter

If she new it wasn’t her apartment. Murder.

Of course race has entered into this. The real racism is not her killing him, but the trial itself.

In Texas, if you kill someone while committing a crime, it is murder, plain and simple. Easy decision.

She entered illegally (breaking and entering with no warrant). The law has no provision for “I made a mistake” .

Now the hard part -—sentencing -— which is where all the other factors can be considered.

This woman went into an innocent man’s home uninvited and killed him. She’s guilty. End of story. The rest is just obfuscation.

This story misses the problem of Jeans door was ajar. Had Jean locked the door Amber’s key would not work and it would have slowed the process of fight or flight. That said I think she still committed murder.

This was a good verdict. This cop had no business being in that apartment and that is all on her. She pulled the trigger and took his life. That is also all on her, no one else.

I wish this could bring back a good man who was murdered in his own home but it won’t.

She won’t last long in prison, that too, is all on her.

Does anybody know whether she had any connection to the man she killed BEFORE she walked into his apartment and shot him? Did she know him at all? Were they acquaintances or total strangers? I didn’t see this addressed anywhere.
