Just glad it didn't get this treatment.

“The 10-inch painting, titled Mocking of Christ, is expected to fetch up to $6.5 million when it is auctioned Oct. 27 by Acteon.”
6.5 MILLION??????
Oh, good. They found my property. I’ve been looking for it the past few centuries.

Why would anyone HANG that in a kitchen, even without knowing what it was?

Thanks Red Badger. I'll be interested in further info, such as provenance, since for years the Mob has been stripping and selling off medieval art from the basically disused churches and chapels throughout rural Italy (and Sicily, for sticklers who say that Sicily isn't Italy).

Nothing in the article about how a Cimabue ended up in kitchen in a Northern French provincial city. Must be a fascinating story.

I’ve got three of those in my kitchen. Had no idea until now what they were.

WOW! I’ve seen pictures of a number of thirteenth century paintings in various history books, including a portrait of Edward I of England. None of them depicted depth and the human face as well as this one. Quite a find.

A long-lost painting... How long? Feels like the paintings heisted from the Gardner Museum have been "long-lost".
