Im almost 60 and have had a full head of obsidian hair all my life. It started thinning out about a year ago. I quit using shampoo about a month ago (just rinsing and scrubbing with hot water) and it has started to grow back in and thicken (caveman like, LOL).
I know a lot of it is genetics, but makes me wonder if the chemicals in the modern shampoos and soaps are screwing us up genetically. Anyone had any similar experiences.
It’s sounds to me like you had an unnoticed health or dietary issue that affected your hair growth cycles, so that the growth cycle was slowed while the shed cycle continued, thus thinning your hair.
Your nails and a hair are essentially made of the same material. Its just harder to check if your hair is stronger :-)
Probably because Im a big fan of scotch :-)
If you are “scrubbing” vigorously enough you may have increased blood flow in the area...
LOL!!!
Modern soap and shampoo, the stuff you can buy at the grocery or drug store, is garbage. Use soap and shampoo made from traditional soap ingredients.
I scrub vigorously as often as I can :-)
I may be using the same shampoo.
I’ve found the best thing is to prepare a healthy salad in the shower while you bathe.
The hard part was installing the garbage disposal. There was a misprint in the instructions.
I use warm water showers and that seems to remove excess oils.
Thanks for the tip.
Those getting kidnapped by ISIS would never have to worry about shampoo or shaving foam or toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, after shave, facial moisturizer..or any health and hygiene product used neck up.
When I was a child we had a set of books, like an encyclopedia, of sort of common sense life information. In the personal hygiene section it recommended brushing your hair daily and washing it once a month. The books were published around 1930, IIRC. I wish I still had them. They would be fascinating to read today.
BTW, My Dad was bald at 35 which he variously attributed to being forced to wear a helmet during WWII, friction on the bedstead headboard or wind in his hair from riding horses. Meanwhile, I, at 70, still have a full, if thinning, head of hair. This even though I wore a steel pot for more years than Dad did and rode motorcycles without a helmet. Must have been the other thing.
I’ve used head and shoulders forever. Now I’m bald. Oh well
Dilute it, its powerful stuff, way too strong undiluted. I havent been following any specific ratio. If you look on the web you can probably find a suggested ratio. I was happy enough that it stopped the crud that had infested my scalp.
People who shampoo once then rinse then repeat go bald sooner....
I have used shampoo that has left my hair thin and lifeless.
Now I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lemon Sage Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner. Mostly the shampoo. I will switch to their Tea Tree shampoo sometimes.
I was told the same many yrs ago
“Great info! Thanks. Makes one wonder what the heck is different between kids shampoo and adult shampoo. Just marketing I think.”
5 obvious benefits:
1. Unless you shoot it on/in your eyes, there is no stinging of the eyes.
2. It works on various types of hair.
3. Does not dry out your skin like some body soaps.
4. The economy of 3 in 1, versus 2 to 3 types of hair products.
5. Less hot water used as you are rinsing less.
