The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!

California is 1200 miles north to south and representing many many garden zones. Sunset magazine says there are 17 zones...

I think you can put 13 or 14 eastern states in California. How many zones does that represent...

I planted peas, spinach and beets last week.
They’re coming up!
Hooray!

Pantry is filling up! I still have more to do, plus I get the fun, FUN job of taking everything out, organizing it by date, and putting it all back in. Worst. Chore. Ever. EVER!

Time to start your wines for winter holiday imbibing! Added bonus? You get to buy balloons! (I actually use a cork and an air lock, but balloons work just fine.)

Rubber corks with a hole down the middle, gallon jugs and airlocks are available cheaply on Amazon.com. I’ve used the same ‘Gallo’ wine jugs for decades. Probably my favorite and the most successful has been Cranberry wine or Grape, using frozen concentrates.
Again, DO NOT use citrus of any kind. They’re adamant about that on all home wine-making sites I’ve looked at. Does it blow up? Will it kill you? I’m not risking it, LOL!

All those jars of canned food shore do look purdy!
I don’t have a pantry so I have to use my canned goods for home decor. :)

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer Blender can coconut cream, tb vanilla, 6 tb maple syrup, 2 tb
pumpkin puree, 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice. Pour into glass jar w/ lid.
SUGGESTION: Brew together 5 scoops Pumpkin Spice and
5 scoops Hazelnut ground coffee. Tastes great w/ creamer.

LOL! I’m SURE my Jug-O-Wine would stand up to anything your group could come up with. Not. ;)
However - it’s a handy survival skill to have for an Oenophile!
I just planted six wine grapes a few years ago - no steady production, yet - but soon!
