First it was a kangaroo, then an emotional support duck. Now a miniature horse has become the latest unusual animal to accompany a passenger aboard a flight. On Thursday, a Twitter user by the name of Ewan Nowak posted a video to Twitter that showed the adorable tiny horse aboard a packed American Airlines plane. Nowak, who shared the clip with Storyful, says he noticed the animal shortly after boarding the aircraft which was travelling from Chicago to Omaha. The footage shows the pony fast asleep on its owner's lap on the packed plane. 'At this time we would like to begin boarding with any active duty military, families traveling with children under the age of 3, and horses,' Nowak humorously wrote.

I’m thinking this is just a cheaper way to get their show animals or exotic animals somewhere without paying huge fees

Your objection is legitimate, but implies that the horse would be allowed to evacuate. After all, passengers are exhorted to "leave all personal belongings and baggage" on board when evacuating - I assume that that would apply also to "emotional support" animals. On the other hand, not evacuating the animal might slow things down even further.
I wonder if the airlines will now have to revise their pre-flight safety instructions to include the admonition: "Put your oxygen mask on first before to attempting to assist young children or livestock."

My son is literally deathly allergic to horses.
Being exposed to one nearly did him in as a child.
Fortunately, we were able to get him medicine and cleaned him up really good with a bath and washed everything everyone was wearing.
Anaphylaxis is no joke and while it’s rare for someone to be that allergic to horses, encountering a horse is not something someone would expect to worry about on an airline flight.
That said, that is just ridiculous.

That horse is a registered service animal.
Which makes a frickin’ farce out of a legitimate program.
Even on road trips Max would opt for pooping in a toilet if it was available. More than once I endured a confused clerk as I carried my bird to the rest room.
Otherwise she would go to her cage to do her business.
Birdie too once he’d joined us (he actually decided to potty train watching Max get praised,as he was an older bird when I got him).
Made long road trips a blast. Max would camp out by my left ear and Birdie would snuggle on the right under my chin.
IIRC There’s a story of President Reagan going riding with Queen Elizabeth. Though an old hand when the horse he was riding farted loudly he apologized, whereupon the Queen said it was okay, as she first thought it was the horse anyway.
That’s what I wonder too. Whose rights prevail? Airlines no longer give peanuts because people have peanut allergies. What about people who have allergies to dogs, cats, and horses (or whatever creatures are deemed service or support)? Does someone have to go into anaphylaxis, and likely die?
I have a friend who has asthma and severe allergies. She is allergic to cats; she can’t spend any time at my house because we have a cat. She and her husband were on a flight a few years ago when her allergies started acting up. She couldn’t figure out why. Then they noticed a terrible odor. It turned out that the lady in front of her had a cat in a basket and the cat pooped. My friend was NOT happy to be seated that close to a cat (and nobody around them was happy after the cat pooped).
I had a “therapy dog” come very close to biting my hand a few years ago. The owner of the dog took the dog with him everywhere and it was a problem (overprotective). He thought that because of the ADA no one could say anything about his dog. I did a little research and found that the ADA does allow for these animals to be excluded IF they are aggressive and/or they pee or poop in inappropriate places.
I think that at the very least the airlines should notify other passengers that there will be a dog/cat/horse/whatever on the flight and allow them to opt out of that flight without penalty. Seatmates should definitely be able to change seats or opt for a different flight. A few years ago, a flight attendant came to me and asked if I minded if they seated an unaccompanied minor next to me. It was a boy about 10 or so years old. I said of course not. He turned out to be a very pleasant seatmate.

Why should objecting passengers have to opt out? If you can’t go somewhere without your animal, stay home. Get a teddy bear.

On EVERY SINGLE evacuation, passengers will stop in the aisle - blocking passengers from leaving a life threatening situation so they can open the overhead bins and try to take their belonging with them.
