I watched POTUS’ SPACECOM ceremony on C-Span at about 4:30pm EST. A couple observations...
1. He seemed really ‘distracted’. That’s the only word I can find to really describe it. He didn’t seem like his usual boisterous self.
2. At the beginning, he said several things about the Coming Storm. He was referencing Dorian, but seemed to be signalling something else as well. The comments just seemed very...structured?...He had a planned trip to Poland this weekend, but is sending Pence instead. He rambled a bit about how it would be important for him to be here this weekend.
The ceremony recording is here, about 10 minutes. Have a look if you have time and tell me if I’m off base here, or add your own observations please.

Same here Kitj. 45 seemed very pensive, if that is the right word. Careful, studied. Different. Much different than a rally or other gatherings.
I agree he seemed very distracted and his speech patterns were very stilted and measured.
A Storm is indeed coming.
ps I gotta have one of those Space medallions!
Watched. There are little glitches, breaks, so he appears to pause but it’s technical; I don’t know if others are experiencing that.
He is definitely a bit lower than his usual enthusiastic self. It was hard to discern real pauses from the technical glitches. He sounded almost a tad ominous when talking about “the storm”. He did not say “hurricane”.
Anyone know how bad the hurricane may be? I have not checked the hurricane thread.

Yes, he seemed tired. Also reading from pages rather than a teleprompter has to be more difficult to keep your place and make contact with the audience. I got a strong image of a calendar with time marked out for this event surrounded by continuous other events.
But he has his priorities straight. He remembers what happened to Bush and Katrina and he’s smart enough to stay right on top of whatever happens. And remember Mar a Lago is probably being boarded up as we speak. He has friends right in the path of that storm.
1. He could be distracted due to upcoming events. He could be tired because he was up all night dealing with overnight ops. (Iranian launch explosion? others?). He seemed out of breath at times.
2. Agree about “storm”.
3. Mouthed a special “thank you” to Sec of Army.
4. about 7 minutes or so in, he seemed to go off script (not unusual for him). Started mentioning budget numbers. Was there something special about those numbers? Seemed odd.
5. “equipment nobody could have conceived of 2 years ago” !!!
6. Space Command vs. Space Force. Not sure why just a “command” right now. Why are they waiting with the Space Force?
7. “This is a landmark day.”
8. Poland. IMO an important ally. Maybe in on whatever is happening? (Poland does not have an immigration problem, therefore it doesn’t have the problems that go with it.)
9. military - outdoors but no cover (hat)! ? Highly unusual.

Infrastructure & Technology

IMO FWIW:
1 - Trying to read and stick to a historically(his posterity) important pre-written, structured statement from black font/handwriting on white paper in unfavorable lighting conditions at podium height.
Bright sunlight coming over shoulder, note side edge of podium, surface is partially in shadow.
2 - Having problems transitioning from looking down at podium then looking up at crowd, then back to podium to find his spot again on the page (eye focus). Seems to be using his fingers to follow text.
He is squinting when he looks up, trying to focus his eyes transitioning back and forth from close to far to close in those conditions.

3 - Optics. He can't leave country while Dorian threatens and appear aloof like the MSM painted Bush during Katrina.
4 - Disruption of schedule, a lot on his mind. What disrupts mil planning? Weather/timing/Hand of God.
5 - Unfortunate placement of podium. Somebody slipped up.
