The last couple of pictures of BILL CLINTON has him wearing red shoes.

I'm sure this has been covered, but that got me to thinking about Dorothy's ruby slippers. Does this stuff go back that far? Public eye, I mean.

The ruby slippers in the movie version were actually not in line with the book by Baum. In the book Dorothy wore Silver Slippers. The silver was part of Baum’s overall theme of the book which was to promote a dual gold/silver standard. I can go on a whole day about the different symbolism there.

The stated reason for changing to ruby slippers in the movie was to fully utilize the newer color film technology. It could be that there were deeper reasons - I have little doubt that this goes way, way, way back.

It's reported by smarter people than me that there are all kinds of occultic/mind control symbols in the Wizard of the Oz, both in the book and the movie. Though, in particular, the ruby shoes are unique to the movie. Also the author L. Frank Baum was a member of the Theosophy Society. If you are not familiar with that group, you should research that and Madame Blavatsky who started it.

By the way, it was Blavatsky's Lucifer Trust located at 666 Fifth Ave. in NY City. This was a publication outfit that handled all the material published by the Society. they later changed the name to Lucis Trust because of the controversial name.
