Location, Location, Location.
The usual places (NY, CA, etc..) will drain you dry fast.
You can live ok in low cost of living areas without state income tax, but high property taxes can erode any savings you make.
You can go frugal nomadic in an RV and easily live off of that plus your income.
Set up domicile in a state without income tax. South Dakota caters to RVers in this regard. Roam the roads, go where you want, stay as long as you want, then move on. Follow the 70 degree temperature line year round. Work from your RV. Easy with todays wireless technology.

And already this thread has given me a ton of ideas on how to do that. Philippines? Milasia? Mexico certainly is an option as I know it well.
The hard part is divorce. Big damn money hole.
There is some good advice on this thread. We did four years of RV living while our nest egg grew in a the market. Life on the road was rewarding and kept costs down while our son went to college. He is out now and working and debt free while our portfolio grew about 10% a year. The RV ended up costing 4K per year though one can buy a cheaper mobile home.
Pay attention to the rules about SS, I earned too much and had to repay the SSA, but after a certain age you can go back to making money and still draw the monthly SS.
Pay attention to where you live, it was much cheaper in Texas than CA but the weather is better in CA. If you like a foreign country, life is very affordable in Costa Rica.
