I was a young kid, but had just come home from my grandmother’s funeral. That’s why I can remember both the date so well.
“Was working at Pop Tunes music store just down the street from Graceland.”
What was the reaction of the rest of the people there, in the store and on the streets?
I had just gotten married two months before and was looking for a job in Central Florida. Still married to the same lovely woman.
I had taken the afternoon off and spent it drinking beer perched on a ledge on Sugarloaf Mountain near Frederick, Maryland. I remember hearing the news while driving back to Virginia with my car seat reclined so far back I could barely see out the windshield.

I was about 3 weeks away from having my twins, so was just hanging out at home...mostly lying down...lol
And by the end of March 2020 he will be dead longer than he was alive, if my math is right.

I was working in Memphis as a dermatologist. I was driving on my way home.
Happened to be in Memphis ! Traffic backed up all over town, but particularly near Graceland.
I was on a flight with my wife to visit her parents in California. The news on one of these was on the monitor when we changed planes; the news on the other when we landed in Ontario, California.
I was riding shotgun with my dad as we were looking at cars in the northern part of the Twin Cities. I think we had just looked at a 75 El Camino when the radio announced it
I was sitting in my car waiting for my wife standing outside the fence hoping to get Elvis’s autograph. she came back literally in tears at the news Elvis was dead.
We almost couldn’t drive away because in a near instant it looked like every TV and newspaper truck in the country showed up.
It was so bad, that reporters tapped on the windows to get our reaction to his death and wouldn’t go away.
I will always remember that day asa real nghtmare
I dont know. I was very young, Elvis Presley was just not that big of a deal to people who werent even born yet during the 50s.
