The best and worst US airports for 2019 have been revealed - and it's San Diego International in the number one spot.
A new study ranks 50 of the busiest hubs in America, taking into account the following factors - airport amenities, how quickly the airport can be reached and the punctuality of departures and arrivals.
Coming second in the list is Phoenix Sky Harbor International - which was top last year - with Chicago Midway International rooted at the bottom.

Yes a cessna from montgomery Field They did change the approach path because it went close to the highest building downtown, even thought the crash was just east of downtown over North Park.
Bill Kolendar was the police commander on the ground where the pSA flight came down in downtown. HE became director of the Cal Youth Authority when Wilson became governor. He told a lot of war stories. He wa also commander on shot when there was hostage situation at the McDonalds in San Ysidro.

Ah memories of PSA from long ago. Loved the flight attendant outfits!!
My nearby favorite AP is Jax. Easy in, easy out with auto leasing right out the door. Clean airport. Only problem is few direct flights to anywhere of note but that seems to be the general theme since the advent of hubs and small planes.
I like PIT, I hate DFW.
They now want to charge $6 just to drive through DFW as a short cut across the metroplex.
I hate it.
We still have CT Limo but I have an MTA monthly pass that the company already pays for so didn’t want to double-dip.
Ontario is a nice situation
They have room for three more terminals like the two newest ones. Don’t know what LAX doesn’t dump more flights in Ontario.
Ontario did a nice job over the years taking care of the houses to the wets under the takeoff path.
and air california.
I was on the PSA flight from Sac to SD a week later, but got off in LA. Very somber
And we were on United one month after 9-11 to Paris. Very crowded because they had cancelled a lot of flights and very quiet
“When I had a connecting flight in San Diego a few years ago, I had to go outside the secured area and go through security again to change planes. And both were with Southwest.”
That’s really bad and especially so for the same airline b
Dulles’ train is good and avoids this problem. O’Hare too avoided that problem.
Eppley in Omaha is my favorite small airport.
Best airport in the world is Sierra Vista Az.
Only puddle jumpers that fly to Phoenix Sky Harbor, or private planes, parking is free, the place is clean, the gal that takes your ticket, checks your bags, loads them on the plane and pulls the wheel chocks.
Brother THAT is service!
When they take off out of San Diego they really have to put the pedal to the metal to clear the hills. I’m surprised they haven’t augured one in.
Anyhow Salt Lake is much nicer than most other airports I’ve been at. Freeport in the Bahamas is the most laid back. I really hate the Airport CNN you see in the USA.
yeah that’s luck of the draw. SWA has all the gates upstairs tied up and they have those two on the east side of the concourse and they have the security check between them. They had to set up an entire security screen for two gates.
SWA is a monster. They saved the sacramento airport and Sac built a new terminal and gave it to them.
Again need not just new terminal, need new airport.
Tampa has always made the list but not this one.. right now they are going thru a 3 billion dollar expansion and improvements.
Yes, landing at San Diego is pretty spectacular. People in some buildings can look down upon you.
Plus there is STILL ample space to turn it back into a first class shopping mall, set of restaurants and conference center/hotel space. There is plenty of room for expanded parking which could be free in the long term lot for day visitors.
TSA could be dumped for private security or boarding wing or gate based security such as they have in Singapore and at least one airport in the country could set the model for when airports were run as something other than giant livestock processing operations.
I believe PIT has already run some experimental days when non ticketed passengers could get into the terminal with reasonable success. Why not make that arrangement permanent?
My only complaint is all the burqa clad TSA employees keeping watch over the chicken coop. Even worse than Philadelphia, which is pretty bad. TSA was one of the worst ideas EVER to come out of the Bush II administration.
Its true!
Got to agree. Also, St. Pete Clearwater airport.
