I disagree. The inalienable rights was poetic language that over the centuries has been rendered to magic.
Slavery does, in fact, prove it not true. A slave has no rights unless the master chooses that he should.
We have only those rights we are willing to fight to take hold of and keep for ourselves.
If the rights were God given, then our forefathers wouldn’t have had to fight a war to take them for themselves and put such effort into trying to safe guard them for their posterity.
God gave us life and the hope of salvation.
Liberty, the pursuit of happiness and the freedoms have always been up to us as a people to protect and defend.
