22 percent of millennials say they have “no friends”

Today, members of the millennial generation are ages 23 to 38. These ought to be prime years of careers taking off and starting families, before joints really begin to ache. Yet as a recent poll and some corresponding research indicate, there’s something missing for many in this generation: companionship.

A recent poll from YouGov, a polling firm and market research company, found that 30 percent of millennials say they feel lonely. This is the highest percentage of all the generations surveyed.

Furthermore, 22 percent of millennials in the poll said they had zero friends. Twenty-seven percent said they had “no close friends,” 30 percent said they have “no best friends,” and 25 percent said they have no acquaintances. (I wonder if the poll respondents have differing thoughts on what “acquaintance” means; I take it to mean “people you interact with now and then.”)

In comparison, just 16 percent of Gen Xers and 9 percent of baby boomers say they have no friends.

Put down the f***ing phone and learn how to TALK to people face to face

That's the exact comment I got from my coworker on this article.

Spending your childhood interacting with others by text and on social media is not conducive to developing the "social graces" necessary for real-life friendships.

What irks me is that these socially-awkward people are immediately labeled as "autistic" and coddled when they really just need to be shoved outside in the morning and forced to play with neighborhood kids until the streetlights come on.

Only problem is, most neighborhoods don't even had kids playing outside anymore. All the kids are indoors! Even on perfect summer days.

Well, tell him he can be “disrespected” or he can be “disjobbed”, his choice.

I’m 70 and the same way. Get a friend and you have a job, you become a bank, you have someone to nitpick your ass all the time. I have drinking buddies and not a one would DARE come to my house, give me unwanted advice or invite me to their house. I’m satisfied.

That’s a shame. You’d think they’d get together and swap man-bun tips. Or start a hackeysack league based on mutual cooperation instead of competition. Maybe get volume discounts on green hair dye.

As a Millennial I can say that this....

Is sadly very true :'(

To make matters worse, I am not sure how we fix it. (gEt oFf uR sMarT pHoNes and MaKe fRiends!) Eaiser said than done in this day and age, you get fired from a job for not wanting to wax a tranny's buttocks >:(

Good Luck making life long friends.

Buttocks? Really?

You know, waxing someone’s junk would be more than just a little difficult.

I have a high school chum whose adult daughter was texting while riding her bike.

She ran into a light pole and did $10,000 worth of damage to her face, mouth and teeth. Took her years to fully recover.

All that because she wouldn't stop and get off her bike to text.

Worthless arrogant know-nothing people who think they know everything tend not to have (m)any friends. The millennials brought this condition on themselves but are too lazy and self-absorbed to do anything about it because forming and maintaining friendships is hard work—and “hard-working” is an adjective that is rarely applied to millennials.

define friends.

I define a friend as someone you can be apart from for years, bang on his door at 2AM, telling him "The police are looking for me for a murder I didn't commit!" can I crash here for a while?

Someone who says okay, even after asking for more information, is a friend.

those are the rules for income tax purposes. Corporations were hiring "contractors in name only" but treating them like employees, until some of them sued for employee benefits.

The IRS cracked down on rules for contractors that distinguished them from employees. I doubt that a millenia hired to do odd jobs around the lawn will be subject to taxes.

If they’d get their faces off from cell phones and computers they would see that change.

I stayed with my teenage grand-girls while their parents went on vacation. It wasn’t until the week was half way through I learned THEY were keeping tabs on me at any given minute via their cell texting to each other!
