Twin infants were found dead in the back of a car in the Bronx on Friday after their father told police he'd forgotten them while he went to work, officials said.
Authorities found the 7-month-old twins -- a boy and a girl -- foaming at the mouth around 4 p.m., according to police.
The 37-year-old father, who has not been publicly identified, is a social worker who said he unintentionally left his kids in the vehicle at 8 a.m. before going to work at a nearby VA hospital, police said.
The man allegedly told police he only realized his kids were in the car after he left work and started driving, the New York Post reported. Police said someone nearby called police after hearing the man screaming on the side of the road.

So many posts presuming guilt until proven innocent.
Also throw in airbags. When we were young our parents had us right next to them.
Great. ‘Daddy’ is a VA Social Worker!
I need ALL of you that give even they tiniest rip about we Veterans to put us ALL on your Prayer List, tonight!
This guy left his TWINS in the car to DIE and he’s supposedly an ASSET to we Veterans who need his help?
O.M.G.
Here’s an idea! Raise your own friggin’ KIDS (stay at Home Mom OR Dad, I don’t care!) or don’t have them!
I do not disagree with that sentiment at all.
Personally, if this was me, and I did this as an accident, I would very likely kill myself.
I don’t think I would be able to live with this.
“I blame the idea of daycare. Before the advent of daycare, the kids were around all the time and, if they were gone, the quiet would be noticeable. Now, its normal to not be in contact with kids for long periods of time.”
I blame society and indirectly our government. When I grew up, my dad made a living, and my mother made a home for us. Now, couples, thanks in no small measure to our taxation policies, both work. And we see these events as the payoff for not caring for the children we bring into the world. And I blame women who think more of their “careers” than they do of their children. Fine if you want a career, just don’t procreate and foist your offspring onto “daycare.” Like George Carlin once said: “It’s a child, not a toy, touch the little bastard once in awhile, he’ll thank you for it in the future!”
Damn right.
Had a similar case here in Georgia. Father left his son Cooper in the car, stopped by his car to drop something off at lunch, said he didnt notice his son still in car. Worked the rest of the day, sexted with underage girl, had previously searched hot car deaths, etc. He was found guilty.
Excuses! Excuses!
They were able to prove that quite well with the evidence in that case.
We have to realize that, unfortunately, man is capable of committing even the most horrible of crimes, so it would be foolish to assume that would be impossible here.
I’m sure he will be thoroughly investigated over this.
Not excuses. The dad did this and takes the blame but before airbags this kind of thing was unheard of.
I cannot fathom forgetting your kids in the car.
I was with mine pretty much 24/7 as we homeschooled and I was ALWAYS aware of where they were and usually what they were doing.
I left the baby monitor on when they were playing in their rooms so I could hear what they were doing and saying and knew when to intervene.
Sure blame the air bag.
I doubt he forgot his smart phone. I don’t even want to think of these kids dying slowly in that car.
Yes, if a mistake as he said, it would be the worst thing to carry the rest of one’s life. I feel awful for the kids, his wife, and him. So much tragedy in the world and throughout time.
Growing up on the Prairie in the sixties, you heard about this from time to time. Not as often as now because kids weren’t seatbelted in, so they usually could just get out.
Nope. I said, The dad did this and takes the blame.
He has a 3rd kid, a 3 year old. Fortunately he dropped that kid off in Yonkers, ny earlier in the morning.
Absolutely. I don’t care if it’s an ‘accident’ or not, people need to be charged and punished for this crap. I bet he would not have forgotten his cell phone in the car. I also remember the Cooper Harris case from a few years ago where the ‘father’ deliberately left his young son to broil inside the car. He was charged with murder and found guilty.
Neither parent called daycare to check in on the kids.
I’ve heard of people who did the math and realized that two working parents was not coming out ahead like they thought.
So the wife quit her job, was able to get rid of day care, do more meals at home, less prepared food, better money management and still lived at the same standard of living as before.
With a double income and all the extra expenses that come from that, the actual take home pay benefit is no more than 25% more than one income, and that 25% can be dealt with but good budgeting and money management.
