That’s interesting because the knock on the Sherman was not that they were slow or unmaneuverable, but that they weren’t powerful enough and didn’t carry a big enough gun. Also they were gas engined and would go up like a big torch when they got hit.

Three points about the Sherman.
1) The Sherman was nicknamed the "Ronson" by the Germans (a popular German cigarette lighter) for its tendency to burst into flames upon being hit.
2) An urban legend, after the war an American tanker and a German tanker happened to meet up in a bar, and fell to discussing the war.
"I still don't understand why you lost," said the American. "Your tanks were so much better than ours, you had a 10:1 kill ratio."
"Ja, I know," replied the German. "But you bastards always showed up with eleven!"
3) The US produced something like 50,000 Sherman tanks during WW 2 -- quite different from current practice which is quality over quantity...
