Well, the producers of the 007 films have jumped the shark as far as I am concerned and my thinks the box office will crash when 'she' hits the screen--

He played Bond as the Saint.
“I think James Bond is out of date now and should simply be discontinued.”
Yes, society definitely can no longer tolerate a confident, capable white man willing to sacrifice everything to save the country.
It is not my emotions in play here, old sport, it is rather my sense of smell and those steaming piles you posted prove it—
He would have been ok.
I love that character. Bruce Campbell is a national trey.
James Bond has been dead and buried for many years. Ever since Sean Connery left that series of Bond films, as far as I am concerned.
I think ‘they’ in Hollywood got tired of this franchise, but did not want to deal with the whole, “last Bond film” thing, so they came up with (at first blush) an ingenious solution...
Virtue signal and kill the franchise in one casting decision.
Perfect.
“Its dead, Jim”.
She’ll thwart the “evil” plot of the Brexiteers and save the day for the good Muslim “Brits” who want to rape her and put her into slavery, ending with a medal from the London mayor.
:: putting Lynch in is a test to see if she or the idea of a black female Bond will sell ::
It WILL sell. Just like Barry was a CAT-1 hurricane when it came ashore...it HAD TO BE A HURRICANE, no matter what, even if they manipulated the sustained wind measurements.
Femme-black Bond will sell, even if they have to pay people to attend.
And, FWIW, bender2 has more experience IN Hollywood than anyone else on FR. He’s the bank...You should listen to him.
I do.
I don't think the decline of the quality of the franchise was due to Connery leaving (although he was the best 007 IMO). The first three Bond films (the best in the series, IMO) basically covered everything that could be covered in a Bond film. They also followed Ian Fleming's novels fairly closely. Starting with You Only Live Twice, they started ditching the novels and going more for spectacle and big action scenes (On Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby is an exception).
By the time Moore came on board, the films were essentially comedies. They tried different actors through the years, and the Craig series was an attempt at a more serious Bond. However, I think there is nothing to new to see as far as Bond is concerned. even with the changes, they are still made according to a formula. I still have not gotten around to watching Craig's Spectre, even though I have the Blu-ray.
I still find the idea of "a female James Bond" absurd. James Bond is a white Protestant male as created by Ian Fleming. There can be a female equivalent to James Bond, but James Bond is James Bond.
As a James Bond purist I was all prepared to dislike Daniel Craig - just as I had disliked all the other pretenders. But I did watch his version, and found the Bond that had been missing for so many years.
Still not Connery, but not bad...
Am currently reading a book about a female spy with a wooden leg, Virginia Hall. The book is called “a Woman of No Importance”. She was the real deal and worth making a movie about.
The best chin in showbiz!
Should have been national TREASURE.
If they were smart, they won’t make her a simple “replacement” and hope no one notices, they will make a new character, call her 009 or something different, and develop it a completely different way.
What - you didn’t like James Bond with a disco soundtrack?
