Dutchsinse, the earthquake geek, had another theory about some of the recent wildfires. He said (or at least implied) that some of these fires may have been due to methane releases caused by tectonic disturbances.
Think about the Paradise fire, a wildfire where the trees didn't burn. The fire came whooshing out of "nowhere", hot as Hades, but not requiring vegetation to fuel the flames. Could this fire have been fueled by natural sources of natural gas?

That seems very logical. I think you could be on to something.
Maybe multiple causes/fuels. I also remember hearing speculation that the gas company was complicit in starting them. Also some sort of space weapon.
Nothing would surprise me. Your explanation seems most likely, but I won’t rule anything out. It would be nice to find out the truth, wouldn’t it?
There are many, many burnt trees in Paradise. Perhaps you were expected all of them to burn to the ground. I have pictures of burnt trees in Coffey Park from the fire in Santa Rosa the year before, some are still standing. Much depends on how quickly the fire moves, how much water the trees retain and the general terrain. In both fires there was plenty of dry vegetation to burn. Both fires were started by PG&E power lines coming down and sparking in the heavy winds. There is no mystery about either fire.
