TV has always been a wasteland, but today the number of people who realize that it is a wasteland is much greater. I avoid the whole thing as an absolute joke. A lot of people do the same.

Yeah, that gave me pause, too. TV’s zenith was probably fifty years ago, when America gathered around the same three networks to share common culture. If this fool can’t find something he likes on hundreds of cable channels, he need to take up knitting.
