A father chased after a car thief who stole a vehicle with his children inside and then beat him to death with help from bystanders Thursday night in Philadelphia, police said.
The ordeal began around 9 p.m. when a 25-year-old woman parked her Hyundai outside a pizza shop on 29th and Dauphin streets. The woman went inside the shop to visit her 25-year-old boyfriend who worked there but left her three young children inside the running vehicle, police said.
This incident raises a very important ethical question: what kind of pizza?
No sympathy for the thief of the mother that clearly put the kids in danger. Not only were they too young to be left in the car alone but with it running the 5 year old could have decided to take them for a drive as well. She should be charged with reckless endangerment and the thief got what he deserved.
I am a cop in a city where over 95%(!!!) of reported crime is committed by blacks/Hispanics. I have to remind myself that this town is an outlier and looks very different from the rest of America.

Thanks to the Trump economy, young men like this fellow, who have some basic values, they can get a job and provide for their family. And what about the other fellows in the neighborhood, who joined with him? The infantry officer in me says, There’s good material there. Let’s Make America Great Again for all our fellow citizens and legal residents.
I worked for decades in the same city where you work - it’s an aberration and we Deplorables in blue areas work hard to maintain perspective. But we may have better perspective because of that. Again, great, sober, cogent and accurate post. And thanks for what you do.
A local radio host had a step above justifiable homicide he called “praiseworthy homicide”. As reported, this would fall in that category.
20+ years ago a man raped a young girl in a Philly neighborhood. The father tracked the perp down and stabbed him to death. Father was not charged.
How many stories I’ve read of “ non-white “ women with 6/7/8 kids but rarely hear about whites with that many kids . 3 is rare for whites .
You don’t get out much or around town. In my twenties, I knew a dozen or more women with 2, 3, 4, or more children, no husband but maybe had a boyfriend, was between boyfriends or some other various stages of the boyfriend relationship. One of the women was a widow. I know of two white women who have had 6 or more children, each woman had the children from the same father. I currently speak with one of these two women on a daily basis. To say a white woman having 3 children no boyfriend or husband is rare is just showing how isolated and small your world really is. Disney World got rid of the Small World ride, I suggest you expand your sphere of influence as well.
Yes, and needed in our urban areas. Fathers have to fight back. Don’t care the color or race, only the people in these communities can fight back. The police will in fact arrest and prosecute those defending, so it has to be in secret. No hoods, but anonymous action.

Philadelphia police’s homicide unit and the District Attorney’s Office will work to determine if the father will be charged.

And no, I don't generally drive in the part of town where people leave the car running, on the street, with infants inside, at 9:00 p.m., to visit a boyfriend at work, or where people jump in cars and drive off, or where there's a crowd hanging around at a street corner to beat someone to death.
I had an engine problem recently while driving my son home from Raleigh on a Friday afternoon. We had to get off the interstate in High Point, but I made sure I didn't take the Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd. exit.
Still is. Just that these days, "Indian Country" has moved to the inner cities.
Again, while it is true blacks are over represented in all those categories, the sheer number of whites on the dole is much higher. There’s no disagreement here. It’s just a matter of perspective.
