DUTCHSINSE zeros in on the source of seismic activity. Apparently, drill points have weakened the earth’s crust. States like Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas have become the “new New Madrid fault”.

I don’t have time to find the sauce, and in fact the last time I looked for it, it had been pulled - but several years ago I learned from a professional geological publication that the Gulf plate can trigger the New Madrid area.... with a fault zone on over to the Carolinas radiating from the Gulf plate.
With your report, it makes me wonder, what area is heavily drilled? That’s right, the Gulf Plate.
And if your report about the drilling in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas is true, that it weakens the crust, then it would also seem that movement in the Gulf plate would also have implications for not only a New Madrid moment, but may also be the trigger for some of the movement we have been experiencing in the eastern Ok, Tx, Ks areas of late.
One thing that may be a mitigating factor, is that perhaps the movement in the OK/TX/KS faults might be relieving pressures that otherwise might show up in the New Madrid fault.
Only a hypothesis, but thanks for that report. Definitely food for thought.
