Me: What “brand new Sherman tanks”? AFAIK, the Sherman tank is obsolete. Has been for a looooong time. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. So I’m wondering now, what is POTUS up to? :-)

Maybe he is talking about ‘restored’ when he refers to ‘brand new’.

Yes. The way he phrased that sentence was unusual regardless of the obsolescence issue. Odd he make a mistake like that - refer to a Sherman tank named after a Civil War military leader. WIki says re Sherman tanks:
“In service 1942–1957 (United States)”
