The first trailer for Midway - this autumn's forthcoming World War II epic helmed by director Roland Emmerich [Independence Day, The Patriot, White House Down] - has been released, promising an explosive take on the Pacific battle of June 1942.
The movie - hailed as 'the next Pearl Harbor' - tells the story of the epic fight, which saw the Americans and Japanese clash once more.
Set six months after The Battle Of Pearl Harbor, the film is slated for a November 8 release, and boasts a stellar line-up of stars, including Mandy Moore, Nick Jonas, Luke Evans, Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Ed Skrein, Dennis Quaid and Aaron Eckhart.

The best part of that movie was the girl singing “Take My Breath Away”.
LMAO.
Ship models beat CGI models.
Watched several different trailers for this movie.
Lot of CGI (looks more like a video game then real life).
If interested in the story of MIDWAY there are several very good documentary films on YouTube.
If you want an loud action film (with romance and drama) this looks like your movie.
This scene reminds me that one day... there will be an USS Trump... And it will be the best carrier...evah. (Probably outer space capable)
I will accept the subplot to get the rest of the movie!
I seriously wonder of Affleck even knew what a Zero was.
Yeah, it was weird to watch a CGI Arizona settle to the bottom with missile frigates anchored nearby. Why bother?
...And did you know the Japanese invented the angled flight deck? Thats what you draw from the movie.
But Im a sucker for historic block-busters, so Ill probably see it.
Watched “Pearl Harbor” in the theater, which was awful, then was told by a friend how to watch it:
Buy your ticket to Pearl Harbor, buy your popcorn, and sit in the lobby for an hour. When the Japanese planes reach Hawaii, go into the theater & watch a decent WWII film (try to ignore Ben Affleck). Then run - don’t walk, RUN - when Alec Baldwin appears on the screen.
I tried it - it actually works. But hard to watch - my uncle is still aboard USS Arizona to this day - he was an MM1C. Died long before my time, but I think about him whenever I see a WWII film or monument.
I have little hope for “Midway”, but we’ll see.
Tora Tora Tora is the only good Pearl harbor movie!
The romance subplot in the Charlton Heston movie was there to draw women to the theater, so you dates wouldn’t complain!
The 1976 version was pretty good.
I will definitely miss this one because of the faulty cast and director’s commentary, in that order.
This could be some sort of an apology for the U.S. dropping two atomic bombs on Japan on 12/7/41.
They torpedo it first. It takes a few of those and some bombs, too, before it sinks beneath the waves. More believable that way.
There was a recent article about some excavation work in the hills around Pearl Harbor.
They dug up some fuel lines that ran from UNDERGROUND storage tanks in the hills down to Pearl Harbor.
They found out that this storage and transportation system had been built before the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Agreed on Pearl Harbor movie. The best acting was done by Dan Akroyd in his 5 minutes of screen time as an intelligence analyst. The rest were just horrible.
This film had the potential of being perhaps the greatest WWII movie of all time if only they hadn't tried to turn it into a chick flick.
“The movie - hailed as ‘the next Pearl Harbor’...”
That’s all I needed to read before deciding not to see this movie when it comes out. ‘Pearl Harbor’ was a historically-inaccurate steaming pile of crap.
Didn’t like Pearl Harbor, I still watched it. There were some good scenes. I’ll watch Midway too. They don’t make movies for people like me anymore. I’ll take what I can get.
The entire "jap girlfriend sub-plot" was the movie writer's attempt to address issue of internment of Japanese-Americans.
Same thought that crossed my mind. Why would anybody compare their movie to that waste of good film?
