An Upstate New York clerk took his first legal step to fight a new state law that allows illegal immigrants in the country to obtain NY State drivers' licenses.On Tuesday, Erie County Clerk Michael "Mickey" Kearns sent a letter to the Erie County Attorney's Office, seeking legal representation."As I understand it, this Act requires that, as an agent of the Department of Motor Vehicles, I will be compelled to give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants," he wrote.

This is ONLY about registering the illegals to vote. The governor knows the law requires ALL license applicants to be asked if they wish to register to vote. The MVA workers are NOT permitted to question the person as to his status.

Ouch! I just looked up what we pay here in South Carolina: 8 year renewal for $25. Oh, and you must be a US citizen to get a license. And, they check SS numbers: "Your social security number and the name associated with it matches what's on file with the Social Security Administration."

We just moved from CA to a small town in MS.
In ordering to get a MS Drivers License I have come up with:
My original Social Security Card
My original Birth Certificate
My current Valid CA Drivers License
Two official proof of Address Documents, IE Rental agreement, Utility Bills
You know. All this in that backwater State of MS.

Monroe County Executive is going forward with a lawsuit since her clerk won’t refuse to give licenses in Rochester. Lawsuit will be good.
Heard on the news three other Counties will refuse to grant DLs to illegals. Upstate NY is fighting NYC.
