An Upstate New York clerk took his first legal step to fight a new state law that allows illegal immigrants in the country to obtain NY State drivers' licenses.On Tuesday, Erie County Clerk Michael "Mickey" Kearns sent a letter to the Erie County Attorney's Office, seeking legal representation."As I understand it, this Act requires that, as an agent of the Department of Motor Vehicles, I will be compelled to give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants," he wrote.

The political split between NY City, their stooges in Albany and the rest of NY State is slowly but steadily growing wider.
Hopefully other upstate clerks do the same. This is ridiculous, providing illegals and lawbreakers a legitimate Drivers ID, the only ID needed to register to vote.
This reminds me to write a scathing note to the NYS GOP party if they still exist - they are silent on this, worthless.
I am amazed, somebody in NY government has common sense!!!
You’d think an intelligent and aggressive conservative attorney could put together a legal challenge based on this being part of an effort to subvert the legal voting process.
Democrats have considered vote fraud to be their little inside joke for decades, imagine what they are doing with this in democrat states and cities with masses of illegals?
We need to make it easier for areas within states to form their own states. There is no reason why Upstate NY or Downstate IL can’t be states in their own right.

It is unlawful to hire an alien, to recruit an alien, or to refer an illegal alien for a fee, knowing the illegal alien is unauthorized to work in the United States.

As an “old pro” you know that disobeying the law is not the way to get it changed. If this person is doing civil disobedience to draw attention to the stupid law, great, but he’ll still be fired for not following it if he persists.
