Is there a fast food BBQ place that has a sweet BBQ that’s as good as what KFC used to use on its sandwich? I’ve tried local joints and places down south and they were all too hot or too something I couldn’t recognize. (Tee-totaler here) Grocery store bottles just weren’t up to my KFC memory.
When I want a sweet Carolina sauce, I start with Open Pit original and add simple syrup (about 1/4 cup syrup to 1 cup OP).
Now, SoCarolina white (mayonnaise) sauce is a whole new ball game.
Have you tried Sweet Baby Ray’s bbq sauce? Some of my family loves it but it is too sweet for me.

The BBQ sauce we like is Bullseye. It wins most of the store bought taste tests.
Also, you can mix most BBQ sauces to make them more to your liking. I think they are too thick, and prefer more of a glaze. Adding something like pineapple juice is not too sweet, and will thin it down. Also, If my DH makes pulled pork, or brisket, I mix half of the juice with equal parts bbq sauce. This way you get the taste of what you just made, but don’t have to make your own bbq sauce.
