The current ownership is only marginally relevant to the discussion of how Gord and BMW completely changed the nature of the company.
Maybe try something like “And, because the larger car companies were financially strapped, they sold off the improved company and now Tata is reaping the benefits.” That would actually be relevant to the discussion of why quality improved.
As your post stands, you come off like a drunk who butts into the middle of a conversation with irrelevant information.
