Just finished watching the series What/If on Netflix. I don't watch any cable or broadcast television so some of the presentation was new to me.
I watched it for the actress Renee Zellweger who had a bizarre face and manner throughout the series. She portrayed evil in a way that was intriguing and off-putting.
The rest of the series had some strong actors however the writing was a cross between the old show Dallas and a Hispanic Soap opera.
Not being much in the mainstream, I was surprised at just how often the series took up the cudgels of the common culture. premarital sex, homosexuality, interracial relationships, Hispanic good - Caucasian bad, evil corporations, white evil survivalists, Arabs bad but really are good, Black good- Caucasian bad/evil. All placed in the setting of murders.
the only surprise was the emphasis on young marriage. The two leading couples were married and married young, out of high school. And babies. Babies were a longed for good.
Anyone else see it?
No, Renee zelleger had some ill- advised plastic surgery several years back. It ruined most of her natural beauty and destroyed her persona and on screen presence. Looks like she was trying to look more glamorous. She suffered to a degree but lost everything else in the process.
FTR, the Netflix Lucifer is based on a character in comics, from the Neil Gaiman Sandman Universe.
Not from the Bible.
______________
of course.
I watched two episodes of Doomsday Preppers on Netflix last night, and I was amazed at the lunatics who populate this country.
In the story-line, Lucifer is portrayed as a man on a journey of redemption and reconciliation with God.
Just finished season two. The writing is horrible at times, but I do love the premise.
____________
It sometimes is flat and cartoonish, then I remember it is from a cartoon originally. And it makes more sense.
Modern TV shows just drag on the plot way too long. They give you a couple of seasons presenting what could be easily done in a two hour movie
____________
You nailed it. There are some plot lines I read in Netflix that sound really interesting until I realize they want to spread it over 10 episodes. I usually pass.

__________
It makes her face look diabolical in the series. The botox and the smooth old skin. Interesting evil paired with unusual movements.
I saw that up there. I assume they have preppers who go all out?
Bodyguard, on netflix, is worth the time. British accents are little tough for me to figure out.
Just so you now, reality TV is basically professional wrestling without the dropkicks
I loved “Hell on Wheels”. I hated that they didn’t do another season. Anson Mount did a fabulous job, as did everyone else.

Me too. I put on closed caption to follow the British shows. it helps.
I have not, but now I’ll take a look at it. I like getting recommendations from other posters, as I don’t really watch much TV. I don’t have cable, but I do have Netflix and Amazon.
Anson also makes for one of the best Star Trek captains EVER.
Captain Christopher Pike
It's mostly people who think they know what disaster is going to happen (flooding, civil unrest, earthquake) and then try to take precautions. The problem is, you can easily tell it's fake. Yes these people believe they are prepping for the end of times, but then some TV producers come in and basically make it a farce.
Don't get me wrong, the people on the show have issues. They are paranoid and they actually want "the end" to come because they can't function in every day society. But you can see they are being exploited by the show.
Also, I do think it is smart to have a plan and supplies for disasters. But these people are on another level.
I've met some "preppers" but not on a level where they destroy their family's lives in the process.
lol. I’ll have to check that out.
They made several seasons of Hell on Wheels
I start watching lots of Netflix stuff.
But soon I quit, in about 80% of cases.
I can either predict everything or it’s chock full of lefty propoganda, which I can’t stand:
Black computer physicists, uber honky perp (who is in business or is religious, or both), greedy businessman, zero asians, or if there’s an asian then if it’s a he then he’s doing something unlikely, like being a violent street criminal.
I realllly want good content but there’s very little of it.
Eh..I thought “Narcos” was good.
I get the feeling they are designed to give a “bored” population living in apartments something to do when they are not at work. I have a full time job and 32 acres to maintain, and I’m either grading my driveway, mowing my seven acre lawn, building a deck, maintaining my woods trails, building concrete walkways, tending the garden, etc.
I want to watch a complete story when I’m resting or too tired to read. I’ve not got time to waste on drawn out stories as pure time filler. Life’s too short!
