What three historical people do you wish lived longer?
Posted on 05/27/2019 3:20:24 PM PDT by MNDude
There are thousands of people who have made the world a better place to live. Many died before they were old and some would might be great to have around for a lot longer.
Which three historic people do you wish could have lived another 30 years?
Thomas Edison? Rod Sterling? Shakespeare? John Paul II? You get the point.

It took 55 posts for someone to say Mozart. That’s just wrong.

These three aren't historical to any one but family members but they met the above quote.
My father.
My mother.
My youngest brother.

Agree with Mozart and Schubert. How about 10 more years for Beethoven?

How about 10 more years for Beethoven? The quality of his work at the end of his life was without peer. A few more symphonies and quartets of that quality would be ... Man, I lack the vocabulary. Unimaginable.

Julius Caesar was just beginning to bring the Roman Republic into an era for strong man Emperors. He was such a brilliant person that it would have been interesting to see what he could do with ruling Rome.
Lincoln might have had a longer time to heal the wounds of the Civil War with another 30 years as an influential ex-Pres.
But they were both elderly for their era when they died so it’s hard to tell how they would age.

In the spirit of the George S. Patton Jr. suggestion:
A.S. Johnston
Patrick Cleburne
Stonewall Jackson
(George S. Patton Sr. belongs with this crowd, but in my estimation is not as good as the three named, or his grandson.)
