What three historical people do you wish lived longer?

Posted on 05/27/2019 3:20:24 PM PDT by MNDude

There are thousands of people who have made the world a better place to live. Many died before they were old and some would might be great to have around for a lot longer.

Which three historic people do you wish could have lived another 30 years?

Thomas Edison? Rod Sterling? Shakespeare? John Paul II? You get the point.

People do not understand that the era of Federal Dominance and Power is a consequence of Lincoln.

I understand your sentiments, but breaking up over the issue of slavery would not have gone well. The south turned a legit issue... States rights .. into something ugly... the right to have slaves.

You are not going to like this link regarding Lincoln's efforts to protect slavery.

I think picking Reagan is cruel to be honest. He was completely unaware of his surroundings.

Alexander the Great
Harold (the king who died at Hastings)
McKinley. Because of Roosevelt we got Wilson and progressivism, the 16th Amendment, the Fed, etc.

One more: Mohammed’s wife. If she had lived, she would have told him to quit with his stupid cave fantasies and make her happy.

Anne, Queen of Great Britain, died at 49. She had 17 pregnancies but never a baby! Would wish to change that. Britain would then get no Hanover's on the throne. No Hanover's, no George III.

Zachary Taylor, 12th President of the United States. Died at 65 years of age. He was a Southerner, ho abhorred slavery and didn't want to see it spread. He died in his second year in office. Without Fillmore and then Buchanan as Presidents following him, the Union might have survived.

Theodore Roosevelt. 26th President of the United States. Was only 60 at his death. He was seriously thinking of running in 1920. I think had he done so, he would have kept the country strong, both militarily and economically. Maybe we could have got four terms out of him rather than his socialist cousin, Franklin.

That makes me wonder. How would the Soviets punish Hitler if they captured him alive.

They could be quite imaginative. The GRU was notorious for forcing their new officers watch a film of them disposing of a traitor (possibly Oleg Penkovsky) by strapping him to a stretcher and cremating him alive. Hitler shot himself for a good reason.

Just a few of my favorites, who should have lived longer: GEN Robert E. Lee, LTG George Patton, Jr, President Thomas Jefferson, MAJ Audie Murphy & Patsy Cline.

See my earlier post about saving those programs that NBC had trashed by about the mid 1970s. Most of Ernie’s work got chucked as well and little of it survives today.
