BTW, I do realize it can't be 10 feet wide, as criticality starts when it's maybe half a foot wide.

That's plutonium 238. It's not fissionable. It's used for RTGs because its alpha decay makes a big enough piece very hot.

Plutonium 239 is the fissionable isotope.
