I am curious to read everyone's thoughts on what prompted the Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 General Election.
So at first they tried to laugh him off as a joke. Then the GOP tried to eliminate him politically. Word got around that he MEANT all that stuff about returning power to the people and going America first and not globalism.
When it became apparent that he MIGHT be the GOP nominee they kicked it into gear so that even IF he won they would still have an option to get rid of him.
They didn't count on a real fight though. Trump already had connections and friendlies. He wheeled and dealed behind the scenes to make more friendlies. He KNEW what they were trying to do and countered successfully.
His inauguration speech is ALL you have to hear. He put the corrupt government on notice.
Is this a trick question?
Well, what prompted the clandestine activity against candidate Trump was to gather or create incriminating information so that the Crooked Hillary administration could weaponize the DOJ and destroy Donald J. Trump, his family, business, and associates.
Mueller was awakened from his senile retirement to cover up the mess, protect the Deep State, and drive President Trump into impeachment.

Have you slogged through the email archive? It really was just Hillary and her usual cronies and Clinton foundation lackeys for the most part. Obama had his own clandestine email apparently, but it wasn’t hosted on Hillary’s server, though he did send emails to her account on that server at least once.
Sometimes a coup is just a coup. They hated him, they had no real dirt on him so they knew they couldn't control him, and he wanted to upset the apple cart. He even talked about jail for certain people. They started secret investigations while he was a candidate just to gather dirt (failed) and opposition research. Once he won, they implemented the insurance policy to get him removed, and found a reason to initiate an "independent" investigation spearheaded by a like minded Washington career insider. To make sure that happened, they used whatever dirt they had on Sessions to get him sidelined, than made up a reason about firing Comey (which Rosenstein recommended in a letter, so total setup there). But none of that mattered, there was going to be a coup attempt one way or the other, the rest is just details of how they did it.
Sometimes a coup is just a coup.

I suspect that Clapper monitored the emails of Papadopoulos and the Trump campaign and then they used the info to set up Papadopoulos.
Brennan/Clapper/Comey inform Trump about Dossier, it goes public, media demands Independent Counsel right on cue.
I can remember when Charlie Rose hosted CBS This Morning at the time, literally screaming that this MUST have a special counsel.

On the one hand I am grateful that you asked the question. I mean, how can a former government employee (Comey) have so much power and influence as to get this thing going so quickly?
Still don’t understand that. Of course some here will tell me that I don’t know how things work in The Swamp. Fair enough.
This thing with Comey getting fired never even rose to the level of a whistleblower case, and look at how it got put in play.
Next thing - I am still slightly hopeful that justice will be done, BUT note that “hope” is a strange and nebulous thing. We still don’t have the real story on JFK assassination. And the level of lies is there for all to see, exhibit one being the “magic bullet”. So over 50 years ago the Deep State operation was doing ..... something. And the truth was hidden.
Someone here made an interesting comment that has me wondering: Where is 0bama’s secret server? That Awan brothers thing is where a COMPETENT Special Counsel should be appointed.
And we just keep waiting and wondering.
