Congratulations are in order to Studio MDHR. The indie studio has announced that that their sensational game Cuphead has sold over one million copies in the two weeks since its been out. An impressive feat for the studios first game. In a letter on Studio MDHRs official website, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer thanked fans for all of their support.
Hello friends! Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception weve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support and were excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold!
We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead it truly makes it all worth it.
From all of us at StudioMDHR, thanks again for your support!
Cuphead took the internet by storm when it was first announced over three years ago on Microsofts E3 stage. The game features outstanding hand drawn animation to emulate 1930s cartoons. Though the studio plans to eventually release a physical collectors edition, right now you can only purchase a digital copy for $19.99. Trust us, its worth every penny.
They sold over one million copies in the first two weeks. At a starting price of $20 that means, that the company made over $20,000,000.00 dollars in the first two weeks of release. That is simply amazing, and the small handful of developers who made this game became millionaires.
I’m not a gamer and my old eyes can’t even follow the action. but I did discover that those teachers who had young boys arrested for using their pointed finger like a gun must have been right. Seems from this game, that you CAN shoot bullets from your finger! Who knew?
Gaming is a real hobby, Mr. Control Freak.
True....true... but what about the slice of bread shaped like a “deadly 9mm glock pistol (with a 15 round clip)”?
This cannot be for adults could it? Just curious.
I love the style and cleverness, but I do not like the plot:
Cuphead goes to the Devil’s Casino and loses his soul. To recover his “soul contract,” he goes to work for the devil collecting soul contracts from the devil’s runaway debtors.
Therefore, YOU, as the player, are working for the devil and it is all fun and games.
Too many people with too much time on their hands instead of finding some way to help their fellow man with values problems which would lead to a better society. We are truly becoming Ozymandias and/or Babylon.
Purple Lady is kind of hot. Might need a second opinion, though.
That was my reaction too. I thought at first it was a game for 5-year-olds until I saw the enthusiastic replies of other adults on the thread.
To each their own but video games in general are loud and give me a headache. When I was much younger, I would go to the arcades with a pocket of quarters and play Pac-Man or Space Invaders. As a kid, I would bang away on those pinball machines.
When computers were relatively new, I did some Wolfenstein 3-D and I believe Doom but that eventually bored me and I never went back to playing the video games. However, I do play simulated blackjack once in a while if that is considered a video-game.
But if other Freepers like these sort of games, I'm not going to condemn them for it even though personally, I would not want them in my house because of the aforementioned noise and headache-inducing graphics. I'd rather put on some music, open a good book, pour a glass of wine and sit by the fireplace.
Yup,
Like an Acid FlashBack!
LOL
I never dropped but my nephew did LSD once and told me a cup was walking and talking to him.
I told him if he does it again a doctor and nurse will be walking and talking to him in the ER when I’m done with him.
Which would only happen because he wouldn’t hit his fat 51 year old uncle back :) The kid is 220 pounds of pure muscle.
He said it scared him to death so that was good :)
It's a toss-up between this thread and the thread on the Dem lesbian mermaid lawyer who is running against Susan Collins in Maine.
Looks amusing, but probably not my cup ‘o’ tea.
More into tanks & battleships, myself.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just thinking.
Even on the BEST pot I ever smoked (going back like 35 years!, I think it was called Chocolate Thai) I couldn’t have dreamed up a dem lesbian mermaid lawyer running for office :)
Its an extremely difficult game with design paying tribute to late-1920s-to-1930s cartoons and includes some of the dark humor many cartoons of that era had. IOW, while it is colorful, Cuphead is aimed more at adults than kids.
Spoiler: It treats the subject in a comical way that might be confusing to kids (not that its a game for them), but... At the end, you have the choice to follow through and give the devil the contracts which ends the game and gives you the bad ending where you spend eternity in Hell or you can refuse to give the devil the souls which leads to one last big battle against the devil himself. You eventually vanquish the devil, freeing the people whose soul contracts you collected, promise to be good from then on, and get the good ending.
Everybody's got their hobbies and I respect that, so long as it doesn't take over your life and keep one from doing more productive things. I know too many kids that play these games constantly and their education and development suffers. When I see adults playing these games while still living with their parents, I shake my head. Grow up guys.
I never allowed video consoles in my home when my sons were growing up but did allow them online games in limited doses. Both of them moved out in their early 20s and are doing very well for themselves and yes, they both ended up getting video-game consoles but I say good for them, as they are on their own now and they can do as they wish as it is their time and it is on their dime.
But unlike others on this thread, I'm not condemning it. Everybody should have a stress reliever that does not overly tax the brain. For some it's doing jigsaw puzzles or crosswords. For others, it might be playing a musical instrument or fishing. My guilty pleasures include going to the casino and playing blackjack or slots - which understandably others might see as foolish. But I like it and I need a full day in a casino every now and then to clear my head and forget about the rest of the world for a few hours.
