Cuphead sells over one million copies in two weeks

Congratulations are in order to Studio MDHR. The indie studio has announced that that their sensational game Cuphead has sold over one million copies in the two weeks since it’s been out. An impressive feat for the studio’s first game. In a letter on Studio MDHR’s official website, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer thanked fans for all of their support.

“Hello friends! Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception we’ve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support and we’re excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold!

We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead – it truly makes it all worth it.

From all of us at StudioMDHR, thanks again for your support!”

Cuphead took the internet by storm when it was first announced over three years ago on Microsoft’s E3 stage. The game features outstanding hand drawn animation to emulate 1930s cartoons. Though the studio plans to eventually release a physical collector’s edition, right now you can only purchase a digital copy for $19.99. Trust us, it’s worth every penny.

I have it and love the 1930s style graphics. However, it is a difficult game and was, for me, not worth it. I burned out long before it was over.

Looks captivating! I’ve always enjoyed the cartoons and songs from that era, very imaginative, very well illustrated too. It’s where a dining chair can grow a face and sing a song or maybe shout out a curse, whatever. IMO, There should always be a place for both fantasy and fun in one’s life.

If you like it, how about supporting the creators by buying it

Anyway, I bought it twice. Once for Xbox when it first came out two years ago and once for Nintendo Switch when it released a few weeks ago. (It’s a perfect port and a great game for handhelds.)

I’ve completed it on regular and expert. Now I’m going for all S ranks (highest grade that is only available in expert mode). It’s an amazing title.

The SJW gaming press such as Kotaku calls this game problematic because of the “inherent racism” of the ‘30s cartoon aesthetic. Their barking would be reason enough to check this out but my computer is trash.

3D virtual companion software is very likely to be a very active part of the augmented reality future.

I got tired of waiting and bought Playstation’s Virtual Reality gig. Should’ve waited longer. The gear is not ready for prime time. The processing power is not there to provide sharp images to each eye.

Starting with a 1080p resolution, you can only send half, or 540p to each eye, which is a fuzzy image. The hardware to make a dual stream in HD apparently is not there yet.

In my case, I wear glasses, so the head gear kept my glasses pushed back against my face. Every time I blinked, my eyelashes put a little smudge on my glasses, requiring frequent disassembly of the setup and lens cleaning.

I am a big fan of paying people for their products. After being burned more than a few times for way-below-par games and software, I always check out the torrent first to determine whether it is worth my time to purchase. I mean, these are not expensive games, and buying them is very convenient.

I can buy cuphead in China, except that it is in Chinese. Next time I am in HK I will pick up an English version. I’ll tell you what.
