“All birds do is chirp all day and crap on cars.”

They also eat a lot of insects.
.
The Blue Jays attacking a Persian didn't always live to enjoy their bullying.
A little girl disturbing flying rats got dive-bombed, and pecked on the head, drawing blood.
Saw a couple get attacked by Red Wing Blackbirds for just walking in the vicinity.
Heck, I've seen a little dinky Northern Oriole attack a big hunkin' crow, and chase it down the street.
And, a common flicker standoff against a gray squirrel over "rights" to suet.
Take your pick, birds or rats
My parents have toads in their neighborhood. Small white toads. I’m surprised where they can get to.
One managed to get on the cooling fins of their AC unit. Looked like it got baked to death.
They also have voles, rabbits, and something larger that eats cats.
My sister’s dog nailed a opossum when she went over to visit one night.
“I’ve seen birds attack both cats and people. And other birds.”
Crows even go after huge bald eagles——it’s called “mobbing”.
I saw crows go after a hawk once, quite a sight.

Well, aren’t you a sport.
I am a sport.
We have 1800 acres of mostly mountain and rock with about 300 acres in pastures. If there’s kitties out away from the house then they’ll die miserable deaths courtesy of the predators that live around here.
The ones that get within range die quickly.
Sorry if reality offends you but the reality out past the city limits is not the la-la fantasy land some people want to think it is.
And if anyone reading this is horribly offended then I hope it makes them think twice before dumping a pet in the country.
I was in Italy.. there were feral cats everywhere... around my work place, on the street where I lived... They were inescapable. I always carried cat food in the trunk of my car. It got so they knew me and would be waiting by the car... I fed a lot of them and I fed them a lot... Wonder what has happened since I left two years ago.
The issue with the heart pills is that one of them is very bitter, and we cant try to disguise it. We have to put it in a gel capsule and give it to them. One other pill is a dog pill, flavored for dogs, and the cat does not really like it. So we have to shove the pills down their throats.
The look on the boys face was one of utter betrayal the first time we gave him a pill, but he has gotten used to it.
Never had any success with subh things.
It is hard to squish a mouse and do any damage to them.
Can you mix-in fresh catnip, to disguise the crushed pills?
I’m afraid not. We tried using pill pockets, but that only worked until they figured out that something really nasty was inside. So, we have to put the pills down their throats.
It is not so bad if you follow up with a treat. Then it becomes a bizarre ritual that you always perform before they can have a treat, and they tolerate the ritual because of the treat.
Bless you for taking such good care of them.
My first cat, Tiger, which I found in the early 50s, as an abandoned kitten of a few days, lived 24 yrs. She was amazing. The ones I’ve since her lived from 12-16-17yrs.
My favorite people are cats.
I do love the little beasties.
My oldest lived to 19. My oldest right now is 17, and I do not know how much longer we will have her since she has the heart disease. Thanks to the drugs, she has already lived several months past the point where I thought I would have to have her put down because she was so obviously ailing. She was lethargic... we started her on the heart drugs, and she perked up and her appetite improved. I’m hoping she survives a few more months.
We have two 14 (brother and sister) and a 2 year old also.
Unless you are getting them sterilized, you are doing no dam good for anything. Feral cats are as good an idea as feral pit bulls.
lol
Most will accept petting, three or four will happily be picked up.
The mother and grandma may never settle in completely, but they are timid and non-aggressive.
They can be a bit much but they round into sweet and devoted pets.
The voles have vanished, the mice have beat a swift retreat, and even the ground squirrels watch their step.
