Before he leaves he should mention that there is no Kurdistan but there are Kurds. There are Pashtuns but no Pashtunistan, only Afghanistan.
Actually he should make the point that Palestine is a word invented by the Romans to insult the Jews who rebelled against Roman rule. It is derived from the Philistines, the biblical enemies of the Jews. In this age of cultural grievance-crises he could claim that mention of “Palestine” is an affront to the Jewish people, a fact that does not escape the Palestinian people themselves, until the day that a Palestinian state comes to exist and accept Israel and Jewish national sovereignty.
Oh, and remind them that Reagan ended the Cold War by defrosting the Soviet Union and all this Russia hysteria is counter-productive. While we can count on Russia to pursue it’s own national interests, we’d do a lot better pursuing detente, perestroika and glasnost with Russia instead of pushing them into the arms of the Chinese communists and the Iranian-Syrian-Turkish bloc. Despite their many internal issues, Russians are white, westernized Christian nation - which to some on the left is all the reason to look at them with disdain - but for all intents and purposes they are European and with plenty of common interests and economic inter-dependency with Europe, and by proxy with the US.
