No. Space is big. I mean REALLY big.
We also are only now starting to understand new means of communication that are generally not detectable to outsiders. Trust me, any advanced alien civilization is not using standard RF (radio frequency) communication. They most likely are using some form of “spooky action at a distance” quantum entanglement based communication or something even more advanced. So the answer to why we can’t hear them is we’re not advanced enough.

I sure do miss the old days when scientific discussions were based on repeatable and verifiable experiments. And maybe a little math was thrown in. Now it seems like anything goes.
