Barbara Bush hated Donald Trump so much that she kept a 'countdown clock' in her bedroom, ticking off the seconds until he would leave office.
The former first lady died in April 2018 at the age of 92. Her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, passed away seven months later.
She blamed the current president for a flare-up of her congenital cardiac condition, a moment she thought was a heart attack at the time, according to a forthcoming book by USA Today reporter Susan Page.
And Mrs. Bush was so bothered by the brand of Republicanism Trump brought to the house where she once lived for four years that she had a hard time identifying with the GOP.
Asked last year if she still considered herself a Republican, she replied: 'I'd probably say no today.'
She couldn't bring herself to vote for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton in 2016. She wrote in her son Jeb's name instead.
And that countdown clock was by her bedside when she died.
'After Trump was elected, a friend in Kennebunkport gave her a Trump countdown clock as a joke,' Page writes in 'The Matriarch,' which goes on sale April 2. 'The red, white, and blue digital clock displayed how many days, hours, minutes and seconds remained in Trump’s term.'
'She liked the countdown clock so much that when the Bushes returned to Houston that October, she brought it with her. It sat on her bedside table, where she could see it every day. It was there to the day she died. '

Immediately cut the first ladies staff to a skeleton of Hillary’s and Obama’s. Strong innate dislike of socialism. Stays far away from politics and does not think SHE holds power or is a co-President.

Bush was elected president in 2000 .... he was called every offensive name there is...he stole the presidency.... he was called an idiot...he was called an alcoholic....he was compared to a chimpazee, he was a clown....comedians made fun of him ....etc... etc... etc...

I think there are deeper issues between the Bushes and the Trumps. It may have to do with President Reagan. I wonder about President Trump and whether he knew Bill Casey. Mrs. Bush did not seem too fond of President Reagan nor his people. And what did Reagan’s people know of HW’s proclivities outside of marriage? President Trump is very masculine and very Scottish. lol

BTW, I recall some comedian relating how he was an overnight guest once at the Bush White House. Over breakfast he related how he saw the ghost of George Washington floating down a hallway with a candle. George replied "That's just Barbara. She has the worst insomnia."
As I said countless times, he should’ve picked NV Senator Paul Laxalt as his running mate. He would’ve been a great President, too.

Sad for Barbara that she was so misled by the media and the people around her and her husband, that she went to her grave blaming an innocent man
She knew her son’s limitations, and knew he would screw it up.
She did indeed. But she didn't have much choice about "giving him her blessing." Once he decided to run - after she'd said that another family ought to have a chance - she wasn't going to leave him hanging. So I can't blame her for that.
