Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin among actresses, CEOs charged in alleged college admissions scam

Actresses and chief executives are among 50 people arrested in a nationwide college admissions cheating scam, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to charging documents, actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin are among those involved facing charges.

The suspects allegedly paid bribes of up to $6 million to get their kids into elite colleges, including Yale, Stanford, Georgetown and USC.

In most cases, the students did not know their admission was contingent on a bribe.

University athletic coaches and administrators of college entrance exams were also among those arrested.

The alleged scam centered around a man in California who ran a business helping students get into the college of their choice.

Authorities say parents would pay him a predetermined amount, with full knowledge of what they were doing. He would then steer the money to one of two places: either an SAT or ACT administrator, or a college athletic coach.

The coaches would allegedly arrange a fake profile that listed the prospective student as an athlete, and exam administrators would either hire proctors to take the test or correct the answers of a student.

The bribes ranged from a few thousand dollars to up to 6 million, according to officials. The charging documents, unsealed in Boston federal court, are more than 200 pages long.

They allege that Huffman and her husband "made a purported charitable contribution of $15,000...to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her eldest daughter. Huffman later made arrangements to pursue the scheme a second time, for her younger daughter, before deciding not to do so."

Federal agents say they have recorded telephone calls with Huffman and a cooperating witness.

The documents say the Loughlin and her husband "agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team -- despite the fact that they did not participate in crew -- thereby facilitating their admission to USC."

Official say they have emails from Loughlin.

I don’t know if she is a liberal or not. Do you? I really don’t follow her politics or know if she shared them. If she’s a conservative she is done for.

I want to send this to Rush Limbaugh, who is all over this today on his show. Somebody know how— please sent it along. Don’t know from the details of this FBI/IRS investigation— BUT— the Federal Title IX 1972 law applies to women’s and men’s collegiate sports (actually to all collegiate instruction, but the application from the 70’s forward was to “equalize” the sports programs which feminists had targeted as being “selective to male only participants”).

Each college, private or not, that receives federal education dollars MUST comply with Title IX.

Net result- in certain sports, like- rowing, volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, etc— ie. elitist— had their facilities “targeted” to include lockers equipment, new buildings etc.-— all from having provided the CAPITATION proof to the Feds that the institution was in “compliance”. So— those at the schools had responsibility for Compliance— and is an entire section in each school. That is it PAYS the school to do all this— and so, they take bribes to get the female admissions for sports federal subsidies.

So, NOW we see Bribery, under the table altering Admissions test scores, and... FAKE Sports scholarship/admissions, for students who weren’t even IN the sports in high school!

They should take a real fine look at the Title IX Compliance people at the schools— because— trust me, someone, maybe several someones were “on the take” to shine at their “compliance” and RAISE the federal dollars the schools could get as a result— all the while also getting under the table money for “administrators” from these bribery “sources”. A Racket— in other words.

Here’s the FAQ page from the NCAA.. on Title IX:

https://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/inclusion/title-ix-frequently-asked-questions

Scroll down to this Question quoted here:

Q. Is there someone at my institution who would know about Title IX?

“Compliance with Title IX is a shared responsibility of an entire institution, from top-level administration to individual staff members. Title IX mandates that institutions or other recipients of federal funds designate at least one employee as a Title IX coordinator to oversee compliance efforts. Institutions also are required to investigate any complaints of gender discrimination. In addition, all students and employees must be notified of the name, office address and telephone number of the designated Title IX coordinator. A student-athlete who has questions about Title IX specific to the their institution may find the following individuals on their campus a good resource: (1) senior woman administrator; (2) director of athletics; (3) faculty athletics representative; (4) compliance coordinator; (5) the legal council; or (6) Equal Employment Opportunities office.”

If the FBI assigned 300 agents to this its proof positive that the FBI is WAAAAAAY too big.

And how much (300 agents x annual salary) did this cost the American taxpayer?

I think you are thinking of Father Goose. Good, funny movie taking place during WW2. Cary Grant is an American history professor escaping the real world. He gets recruited by the British Navy (Trevor Howard) to be a watcher. He ends up rescuing Miss Goody Two-shoes and embassy kids. In the end he, his new wife and the embassy kids get rescued by an American sub.

Obama attended Harvard beginning in 1988. His first public office was as Senator in 1997.

Where the hell was this national news he was in from 88 through to 97?

He was president of the Law Review.

check out Google. There’s many, many references to a sort of anonymity of Obama when he attended Harvard.

Somebody paid for a Harvard degree for Obama is my true belief and has been for a few years. This episode with the celebrities buying and bribing college entrance reinforces my belief.

You may have the last word. I’ve said my piece.

Macy is a very good actor who’s been in a number of good movies.

He was great in “Fargo”.

It had a leftist slant but by today’s standards it was relatively apolitical.

Thank you.

When TV was good.

A few other shows in the same family didn’t get much of a run. Quincy became a series though.

I never had these types of problems.

I did my undergrad work at a small Catholic college in Iowa and I can't remember EVER passing a bar.

The History of Little Goody Two-Shoes

"...The History of Little Goody Two-Shoes is a children's story published by John Newbery in London in 1765. The story popularized the phrase "goody two-shoes" as a descriptor for an excessively virtuous person or do-gooder.[1]....."
