Ive jumped on the train to better, sugar-free health and have been trying the more healthy sweeteners - the sugar alcohols that arent supposed to be as questionable as the synthetics (Aspartame, Saccharin, Sucrolase, etc.) Just wondering what experience other FReeper have had with these, and what preferences youve come to.
Ive been using Stevia for a couple of years now and like its very sugar-like flavor and potency. I recently bought some Xylitol and Erytritol, to not so glowing report. I found the Xylitol just OK, but I had to use a lot of it to have a sweetening effect. I also bought some Erythritol and though that the after taste was somewhat unpleasant, and had to use a lot of it to get any sweetening effect as well.
So, in order of like: - Stevia - Xylitol - Erythritol
Ive noticed that a lot of the Stevia products are cut with Erythritol, probably for economy sake and to cut the intensity. Thats okay with me, as long as it covers up the aftertaste of Erythritol.
Any others that Im missing?
Whole Earth
I hate fake food almost as much as I hate fake news. Why don’t you learn to enjoy food without fake sweeteners and then just enjoy a little real food made with real sugar. Even if you are diabetic, unless you are extremely brittle, you can plan your diet accordingly.
God never intended for us to eat fake food, it can’t be good for us!
???
Sugar alcohols arent fake food, and we are poisoning ourselves with sugar, which is found is all processed food in large quantities.
I love real food, which is why I have dump the processed crap.
May I suggest reading this article which goes into different types and different side-effects not just gut bacteria!!!!
Whole Earth sweetener
Ive only tried Stevia this f the three you list. I cant stand it nhas anstring aftertaste of licorice to me.
I like Splenda.
Ill see myself out
PS You might try some organic honey. It is good and good for you!
Scotch.
But what it it?
Erythritol is my favorite. Monk fruit is very sweet. They say xylitol is laxative like and stevia is the bitter tasting one. I use a lot of erythritol in baking.
Sugar. Works every time, no bad chemicals.
Love honey but its still pure sugar.
I think the erythritol I bought has a weird, mediciney after taste. Maybe its the brand, but it says pure.
I use the white one that comes in five pound bags. I think they call it sugar
Theyre all white.
Use locally harvested honey.
L
Yeah, Ive heard that that helps with local allergies as well.
