The one difference is gun makers do not lie about their products. Perdue lied about the addictive nature of Oxycotin.

Seriously?! Give it a rest. I know opioids are addicting and I'm just an average person. Where's the secret?

Big Media’s anti-pharma campaign articles often aren’t DIRECTLY related to politics, and so many of us just desperately want to believe what they excrete....

It makes life so much easier, like mindlessly voting Democrat and hating the existence of all Republican men, women and children. Especially the children.

Purdue paid for cooked-up studies that claimed their formulations and dosing schedules limited the potential for addiction. These studies were then used to promote sales. Internal memoranda and emails though show that Purdue executives had a strategy to boost sales by slyly encouraging addiction — with tragic consequences.

Oxy was specifically marketed as nonaddictive.
