Just wait until next week when the next study will prove that a high-protein, low-carb diet is the surely way to go!

hypertension

I began to use the app, Headspace.

I can't recommend it enough.

And of course, some nice walking.

These “researchers” would make Goebbels proud.

Their sole driver is to take our meat away.

Everyone knows that nutritional “studies” that do not control for exercise/movement are completely worthless.

Am am 63, do HIIT, LISS and Weight Train.

I require at least, minimum, 125gr of complete protein and a minimum of 2,500 calories per day.

My muscle mass is twice the average 63 yr old man. My resting heart rate is 59-60. That cannot be achieved, or sustained, on a carb-centric diet that is “low protein”.

Wouldn’t you know since my husband and I are in the middle of a 5 day fast (ProLon - includes 800 cal days)...that I’d come to a FOOD thread...lots more carbs on this “fast” than I expected...but, you gotta get calories somewhere...HA. So far, so good.

Rip Esselstyn, former firefighter, and son of well known heart surgeon, Caldwell Esselstyn, wrote a book called Engine 2 Diet. Literally changed my life almost a decade ago. Turned me on to plant-based , whole food eating. Been following it strictly for about 10 years. . Hands-down the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Nothing else even comes close or compares.

Eat what makes you feel good afterwards. If you feel like crap after you eat something, chances are Its Not Good For You. No one other than you will know what works for you.

This is not my experience, and I suspect he was eating / drinking some sugar and other carbs as well. It doesn’t take much.

High carbs is the American Diet, and it is working so well s/

My husband has been very much overweight (330) his entire life. Severe weight issues run in his family.

We’ve tried low calorie, low fat. Small non lasting results. Americans have been doing this for years....look around and see how well it is working.

A little over a year ago we went KETO and for the first time he lost a substantial amount of weight, over 80 pounds and he’s going for more. He’s feeling so much better.

Keto is a low carb, no sugar diet. It is not a starvation diet, so hunger is not an issue.

The best part is he went for blood tests on his annual and everything was better. No more pre diabetis, bad cholesterol down, and good cholesterol up significantly, blood pressure down. Doctor was thrilled and said keep doing what you are doing. You can’t fake the blood tests.

You can’t cheat on this by sneaking in carbs or you will gain. But since you eat until you are not hungry, the temptations go down.

I also went on it and lost the 20 pounds I was looking to do.

I’m staying low carb, not as low as when I was trying to lose. My blood tests were greatly improved too. I’m in my 60’s and I feel wonderful.

Get rid of the sugar friends, it is destroying our bodies. many carbohydrates we eat turn into sugar when digested such as bread.

This is not a fad diet. It is a diet people naturally lived on over the centuries before now. It works.

Considering the way most people who live in that region eat, they sure seem to live longer. Lots of seafood, vegetables, fruits, olive oil, lemons, cheese, olives.

What you said. Still - some carbs are better than others (wild rice vs donuts)

Lemmee see:

I can grow a field full of beautiful, green grain-stalks. Then, when they die and turn tan-brown, I can cut them down and harvest/separate the small kernels/buds. Then, I can pound/grind the crap out of them into a dry powder. Mix them with some water, leavening agent and a little salt; shove it it the oven, and I have a very unhealthy block of shit.

Gimmee a chunk of red meat any day.

Excess carbs are killers.

I’d rather die at 70 eating good food than die at 74 eating twigs and rocks.
