Nebraska state Sen. Ernie Chambers on Tuesday compared the American flag with the Nazi swastika on the floor of the legislature.
“I don't come here for this rag every day, and it's a rag. That's all it is to me,” said Chambers about respecting the flag. “When you show a way to persuade Jews to sanctify and worship the swastika, when you show me that I'll come up here and stand while you all hypocritically pretend that rag is something that it definitely is not.“
The comments were in response to a bill put before the Nebraska legislature that would update school civics requirements and make students more literate in “knowledge in civics, history, economics, financial literacy, and geography.”
State Sen. Julie Slama who introduced the bill said, “Sen. Chambers’ comments not only degrade a symbol of ultimate sacrifice for our nation, but they also minimize the horrors and millions of lives lost in the Holocaust.”
Chambers, a registered independent and part of Nebraska’s nonpartisan unicameral legislature, refers to himself as “the defender of the downtrodden.” He is no stranger to controversy, having attempted to sue God over “destruction and terrorization of millions” in 2007 and in 2015 calling the police “my ISIS.”
When the Washington Examiner asked Chambers’ office to clarify his comments, they said it was not the first time he had compared the flag with the swastika.
What a parasitic oaf and a malignancy on law-driven, civil society. To the nitwits who elect such subhuman losers: you must be even more so subhuman losers.

IIRC, Chambers played a role in the bipartisan child abuse investigation of the Franklin Credit Union, which was the subject of John DeCamp’s book. I respect him for that. As for the rest of his career in the legislature, I have no idea. His comment is despicable.
As disgusting as this man is as an individual, the really awful thing is that he represents a significant and growing contingent in the Democratic Party.
I no longer attempt to differentiate between the radical left and the Democratic Party - they are one and the same. Yes, I see it says that he’s an independent. That’s a pantload.

He must represent a district in a university town.”
He represents a district that was drawn out specifically for him that is about 95% black. It is in the northeast part of Omaha. About 75% of murders in the City each year are in his district. He hates whites and his district agrees.
Ernie is a disgrace to Omaha and the State Of Nebraska. He doesn’t actually live in the district he represents although he owns property there.
Somehow or another he has managed to wedge himself into important committees and is a general pain in the ass.

This is true. Term limits were passed by the voters by referendum 3 or 4 times just to get rid of him (he has been in the legislature about 40 years). He was able to get the law passed by the people overturned in court each time (except the last). The last time it was passed, he failed to get it overturned. When he went out the door, we got concealed carry. According to the Term Limits law, he had to wait 4 years before he could run for election again. He did, won, and the first words out of his mouth when he addressed the legislature again were, “As I was saying when I was so rudely interrupted.......” He is dispicable, but not stupid at all.
He needs to be made homeless.
His life is a nullity. In 40 years he has done nothing to improve the district that votes for him. His only talent is being a royal PITA.
So why does he come there everyday then ? I guess it's all about the paycheck.

Hey, Ernie, if the country is so bad, then you are utterly free to leave. I’ll bet that we could even arrange for a free one-way ticket and transport for your stuff.
Meanwhile, I’m reminded of a story that my uncle told me. He worked for the Ag Dept. at JFK, and at the time was inspecting people who got off of foreign-origin flights for biological matter that wasn’t permitted to be brought in. After one flight came in from somewhere in Africa, one of the employees that he supervised, and with whom he was very friendly, came up to him and said, “You know, Joe, I’m really sorry that my ancestors had to come to this country in chains, and were slaves for a long time, but after seeing these people and how they live - and how they just plain stink - I’m actually kind of glad about that. But if you tell anyone here that I said that, I’ll kick your ass.”
So Ernie is free to go back to where his ancestors came from, if he thinks that he’ll live a better life and not be all butt hurt every time he sees Old Glory.
