It was reported recently that Smollett had hired top-dollar defense attorney and former federal prosecutor Michael Monico.

But it appears that Monico and Smollett parted ways on Saturday and Smollett hired Chicago attorneys Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson.

As an aside, when attorneys like Michael Monico leave a case, it is not because the client fired him...it is because the attorney concluded (due to new information) that the case is weaker than previously thought.
