Lt Gov resigns, D Gov appoints a new (D) as Lt. Then Gov resigns. New Lt Gov becomes Gov and appoints his (D) Lt. Thus keeping things out of the hands of the (R) who is third in line right now.
I don’t think the dems really want to lose this governorship.
