Two patients have died after contracting a fungal infection caused by pigeon droppings at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said an elderly patient died but from an unrelated cause.
Another infected patient has also died but the factors contributing to the death are still being investigated. A non-public room, thought to contain machinery, was identified as a likely source. An investigation is under way.
A NHSGGC spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the families at this distressing time.
"Due to patient confidentiality we cannot share further details of the two cases.

There are always birds flying around our one and only grocery store.
Last weekend I was sitting on my sailboat watching tv when I heard....splat...all the way down the port side of the deck. Then about an hour later....splat...all the way down the starboard side. Got up the next morning and my whole deck was covered in bird. We call it...getting birded. One was a seagull but the starboard side was from an Osprey that has been living at the marina. It was obvious because it was blood and guts and full of hair. It’s been hunting rats as well as fish. I felt like I needed a mask to clean it all up. lol
Thats fowl.
Bird poo is better than rats.
Could get chirpees from that stuff, which is a canarial disease, and has no tweetment! I found this stuff out from a pamphlet I got at Parrots Without Partners. It’s true, I tell ya’.

I walked through about 200 yards of crow shit on the way into the hospital. There were easily 1,000 crows that congregated every night in the trees over our parking lot.
Yeah, thats healthy.
