There’s an arrest recorded for him on my local PD’s website. The charge was “assault on a child under 12.”
Why was the man being assaulted?
I don’t cotton to punching ladies or children. But she was neither. She was looking for trouble, emboldened by the cowardly pack of animals she was running with, and got what she deserved.
Looked like hyenas packing up on a lion. This was a staged event that backfired.
What about those who assaulted the man prior to the man defending himself against that loud violent mob?
Yeah, no. He escalated a tad quickly there. That being said, this feral BS has got to stop.
I doubt the black girl in the video could do any harm to that white guy (who looked like he was 6 foot and 240 pounds).
But the stupid girl was very aggressively attacking him. It could have been a Bernhard Goetz type situation, where he was just fed up with the everyday harassment.
Sometimes these type of “yutes” need to be disciplined because they think they can get away with anything. It’s too bad the hulk dude didn’t to the same to all the rest of them.

Nope. They will double down twice as hard next time. Their culture doesn't take a beat-down lightly. In fact, the poor guy now has to be on guard for her brother and his homies who will want to kill him.
I asked a couple of black girls in the movie theater to be quiet - they were acting up horribly and nobody could hear the movie. They would't behave. I asked the manager to intervene. He did and they quieted down. When I was walking up the aisle after the movie, her brother wheeled me around and sucker punched me in the face so hard I dropped and saw stars. This happened when I was 13 -- in 1964.

A mob of 10-15 black preteens and teens are congregated around a door.
White guy walks out the door, has to push his way through the black mob. Black kids start yelling at him for pushing his way through, then start pushing him. You can see one kid push him on the back in the video.
He pushes one black girl who confronts him, he’s charged by said kid trying to be a big shot, and he knocks her out.
It is the fault of these kids creating a de facto lynch mob, blocking exit from a building and assaulting everyone leaving who doesn’t fit their MO.
This is why we have no loitering statutes, so that groups can’t swarm someone to rob them or attack them at will.
The man was assaulted for being white, and while his level of force was excessive of “51 yo vs 11 yo”, it was reasonable given it was one man surrounded by a dozen preteens harassing him and recording it for their edification.
And if one of those black bullies had hit him in the back of the head with a pipe and left him bleeding on the ground in a game of “polar bear hunting”, the cops wouldn’t have given nearly as much concern because black on white violence doesn’t count as serious.
You should have watched the video.
The girl got up and walked it off. The guy is screwed. He'll probably lose his job and serve some time. If he's supporting a family, putting a roof over their heads; food in the fridge, and making the car payments, they're screwed as well. This will cost his family their home, savings account, and everything else.
Why didn’t he just continue walking?
The group was too coward to do anything until the big moron started challenging them. Pushed the one girl, then she tried to charge him and he knocked her out. I mean, jeez, what was the point? He bigger, the her, of course he could knock her out. And even afterwards that group ran like a bunch of cowards
I watched the video. Something was already going on, someone was being bullied by that crowd of “children.” The man intervened. The crowd reacted aggressively to him spoiling their fun. Some individuals in that crowd even assaulted him, from behind. First. Before he shoved anyone or threw a punch. One particularly aggressive not-so-little girl got in his face. He pushed her back. She came back at him. Then he threw the punch.
Was he wrong? Maybe, but at what point? He was certainly not “totally wrong.” He does not appear to be a “dangerous man assaulting children.” They appear to be assaulting him.
The video record provides him with plenty of excuses. Was he wise? Probably not.
A lot of the interpretation of his actions is going to depend on what that crowd of children were doing before he tried to break it up. Were they hectoring, or even physically threatening some one, as it appears? Who?
What was the adult’s relationship to the apparent possible victim? Who was/is ‘Emily’? What was her role in the activities and actions taking place before he intervenes? What did HE see that led him to step in in the first place?
There is always more to any story.
Hopefully the guy’s lawyer will be bright enough not to let him go to any trial without a jury of his peers, and a judge will not be free to impose his whims in the matter.

He sure is. The judge who handles this case might think to himself, “this was self-defense”. But the judge will find him guilty anyway.
We didn’t see enough video to know everything, so I have no opinion on guy’s possible liability. He’s allowed to meet force with equal force. He may be found to have exceeded that mandate.
A more extreme example would be if he had shot her, obviously, or hit her with a bat. Given his size and age, his hands could be construed as deadly weapons.
I wonder if she got a concussion?
