Did you know the iPad Pro is more powerful than the entry-level laptops lining the shelves at Best Buy? The iPad earns that "Pro" name with a processor that is on par with a mid-level PC. This is in addition to a screen resolution that exceeds many of those same laptops and the graphics power of an XBOX 360. And when you combine this with an operating system that supports slide-over and split-screen multitasking and a virtual touchpad, it's about time to reevaluate the iPad as a laptop killer.

I find the iPhone has plenty of power for a compact hanheld computer.
Looking forward to the replies-—I just got one for Christmas——and I am dumb as a rock.
.
It depends on what you use it for.

A touch tablet is a little big and downsizing to the iPhone has been an enjoyable experience.
Yeaaaa..... No.
The answer would be no in my case based off of the work that I perform on my PC. I do have an iPad Pro Air but its only worth is being an entertainment device and nothing more.
For 99% of my home uses for computer, it works great
At work, its limited
In not, no thanks.
can an ipad replace a laptop or desktop - not unless they can add about 26 inches in screen size
For me, the answer is no....but you might have different needs....
Nothing will ever replace my Desk Top.
If you need to view desktop sites, get a PC or a laptop.
Otherwise the iPad is more than sufficient for casual web surfing and watching movies.
What about word processing with word or office for ipads?
I find the I-Pad a real pain. Mine is now gathering dust. I love my Surface Pro’s I’m on my 3rd one. It is a great tablet and a great laptop. The battery lasts all day and it is completely compatible with every other office computer on the planet.
No need. With a touch sensitive capacitative screen, all you need is your finger.
I just bought an iPad Pro and a Microsoft Surface Book 2.
I love them both!
I use my iPad to read, and my Surface for work and presentations.
I keep my iPad as my notes machine when I’m teaching a class while presenting PowerPoint slides and demos in the class.
It’s a GREAT combo.
Our IT guy says the same thing. The Ipad is good for kids entertainment or watching movies but actual work done? Close to useless. Even tells me he cant even download bootleg apps from torrent LOL
Could it 'replace' the computer? If need be, yes, but not really.
I'm just waiting for the nude pics of AOC to come out.
Very different animals. Power is not the issue.
Depends on what you want to do. If you just want to read and scan and play simple games, iPad tablet is fine.
If you have more serious things to do, the logistics of trying to accomplish it on an iPad is frustrating, with touch only and sensitivities that make doing real work, sometimes even just typing, aggravating. Never mind the screen size. Smaller screens (looking at you, mini-computer “phone”) just are strain-inducing and harder to use for scanning over.
