I hate running from Des Moines to Denver...BORING!
But, the worst stretch of road is US285NB between Roswell New Mexico and Albuquerque (act, Clines Corners). Head-nod country right there.
I swear the NM state tree should be the Bull Thistle.

Just that I mentioned NM.
True, 140 miles of nothing, really NOTHING except for Vaughn with two gas stations/convenience store and a few motels for stuck travelers, and even smaller Encino (with nothing but a post office). No other businesses, houses, or anything except one rest area (gotta use it if you have to go -- no bushes or trees), and no traffic. So little in fact that nobody goes the 70 mph speed limit and the state just this month is raising it to 75 mph. Still most go 80+ now. But I can guarantee that you will see cattle, sheep and antelope during the drive.
